Oppressed by the Wicked But Rejoicing in the Lord
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.
1 Hear my voice, O God, in my meditation;
Preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
2 Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked,
From the rebellion of the workers of iniquity,
3 Who sharpen their tongue like a sword,
And bend their bows to shoot their arrows—bitter words,
4 That they may shoot in secret at the blameless;
Suddenly they shoot at him and do not fear.
5 They encourage themselves in an evil matter;
They talk of laying snares secretly;
They say, “Who will see them?”
6 They devise iniquities:
“We have perfected a shrewd scheme.”
Both the inward thought and the heart of man are deep.
7 But God shall shoot at them with an arrow;
Suddenly they shall be wounded.
8 So He will make them stumble over their own tongue;
All who see them shall flee away.
9 All men shall fear,
And shall declare the work of God;
For they shall wisely consider His doing.
10 The righteous shall be glad in the Lord, and trust in Him.
And all the upright in heart shall glory.

What book are we in? We are in Psalms. In the Psalms, okay, so we're at Psalm 64. Psalm 64. Yep, not Psalm 66, Psalm 64. Okay, we're almost ready to go. Almost ready. There we go. Okay. Psalm 64. Proverbs. Psalms is right before Proverbs. So we went too far. We went to Proverbs of Psalm 64. All right.
Well, good morning and welcome to Coffee and Devotions. It's where every day we get together, we get into God's Word, we have some coffee, and we grow in our love for the Lord together. And this year, 2021, we'll make it through all of the wisdom literature. Well, this morning we are at Psalm 64, and I have my little man with me, Dan Dan, wanting to come in. So why don't we go ahead, we'll have some coffee, we'll pray, and we'll Get into God's word.
You ready? Okay. I'm going to have some coffee and we'll pray. Let's pray. Father, we thank you so much for this day. Thank you for your word. Thank you for this time that we get to spend with you. We pray that you would let us know that you fight for us and that you love us in Jesus's name. Amen. All right. You ready? Psalm 64. To the chief musician, a Psalm of David. Oh, who wrote this one? David. David.
Hear my voice, O God, in my meditation. Preserve my life from fear of the enemy. How do you think God hears his voice? God hears David's voice? Yeah, how is God hearing David's voice? Because he made David and it's like he's crazy, like he's possessed. Ah, it's like his grace and his project and God made David. Is David praying to God? That's right.
Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked, from the rebellion of the workers of iniquity, who sharpen their tongue like a sword, and bend their bows, their arrows, bitter words, that they may shoot in secret at the blameless. Suddenly they shoot at him, and do not fear. Oh boy, would you like to get shot at with sharp words? No way.
They encourage themselves in an evil manner. They talk of laying snares secretly. They say, who shall see them? They devise iniquity. They have perfected a shrewd scheme. So even though they're trying to say bad things about David, what is God going to do? God is going to throw them away like this. Yeah, God kind of has a way of going, whoop! God always likes to hurt. God is like the Hulk. I don't think God is like the Hulk. But he's strong like the Hulk. You're right. He's stronger than the Hulk. That's right. He can push the Hulk away.
The righteous shall be glad in the Lord and trust in him and all the upright in heart shall glory. So if we trust in God, if we trust in God, Do we have to be afraid? Because God is what? God is a spirit. God is a spirit, but you just talked about him being strong and mighty. Is he bigger than our enemies? Uh-huh, he's bigger. Goliath is the same as the Hulk, but the Hulk is way stronger. And God is stronger than Goliath and the Hulk? That's right, that's right. And can God vanquish our enemies? So do you think we can trust the Lord? Is he our champion? Is he our great warrior?
Uh-huh. He's stronger than the blue dragon. In Prince Warriors, there was dragons and he was stronger than every single one. That's right. He's greater than the biggest dragons. You're right. He is stronger even than the guy that even than the guy that didn't even have something and they poked it off that thing.
So when bad things happen in your life and you're scared, what do you think you can do? Pray to God. You can pray to God? And will he hear your prayers? Uh huh. And can he protect us? He won't hear every prayer. Oh yes he does. He hears every single prayer. But maybe he will not. Oh, he might not do what we want. You're right. But will he always do what's best for us? Will he always do what's for his glory? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Sometimes does that mean we might not like it? Yeah, sometimes we might not like it, but can we still pray to him? Because we know that he loves us, right? You ready to pray? And God, all that makes us righteous, righteous, and God, That's right. God disciplines daddy with his staff too. That's right. Yeah, God loves us and he cares for us and he corrects us.
But we can always go to him, can't we? Alright, you ready to pray? Let's pray. Let's go ahead and pray. You ready? Lord, we thank you so much that you are our mighty conqueror, our victor. the one who always protects us and loves us. We pray, Lord, that you would care for us this day and let us always love you and trust you, no matter how bad things go. In Jesus's name, amen. Well, may the Lord bless you today.
