Scripture Passage
9 Debate your case with your neighbor,
And do not disclose the secret to another;
10 Lest he who hears it expose your shame,
And your reputation be ruined.
11 A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold
In settings of silver.
12 Like an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold
Is a wise rebuker to an obedient ear.
13 Like the cold of snow in time of harvest
Is a faithful messenger to those who send him,
For he refreshes the soul of his masters.
14 Whoever falsely boasts of giving
Is like clouds and wind without rain.
15 By long forbearance a ruler is persuaded,
And a gentle tongue breaks a bone.
16 Have you found honey?
Eat only as much as you need,
Lest you be filled with it and vomit.
17 Seldom set foot in your neighbor’s house,
Lest he become weary of you and hate you.
18 A man who bears false witness against his neighbor
Is like a club, a sword, and a sharp arrow.
19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble
Is like a bad tooth and a foot out of joint.

we have some coffee we'll pray i'm getting to god's word all right let's pray oh father we thank you so much for this day we thank you for your word and we thank you that each morning we can come to you and you feed our souls you teach us and you care for us in jesus name amen i go proverbs chapter 20 5 verses uh 9 through 19. well actually we'll do verses 8 through 19. you ready do not go hastily in to court for what you will do in the end when your neighbor has put you to shame [Music] you wanted to do coffee and devotions too [Music] i'm sorry do you want to do you want to have your sucker and sit with me yeah okay i'm glad that he wants to do a tea but we're already in the middle of this i'm sorry i didn't warn you damn damn all right so don't go hastily to court let's open this first because that's loud there we go don't go hastily to court and disclose your secret to another unless he hears it it explodes your shame and let your reputation be written yeah that's right so so which should we um should we quickly take people to court like i got a problem with you so i'm going to take you to the court no no can you hope that's pretty loud okay let's not do that so uh if you take someone to court the wisdom here is if you take someone to court you might think oh i'm going to put them to shame but you know what could happen what they might actually put you to shame and when we go to the when we go to the new testament it specifically tells us that uh we're not to sue especially a brother or a sister you know christians should sue each other all right i'm going to read verses 11 and 12. a word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver like an earring of gold like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is like wise is a wise rebuker to an obedient ear so sometimes do you have to be rebuked sometimes do we do things that aren't according to god's word yeah but is it a good thing when we hear a rebuke and we actually listen to it yeah that's a good thing right do you know where we get rebukes from from god from the bible right first timothy chapter 3 verse 16 and 17 says all scripture is given by inspiration of god and is profitable for doctrine for reproof for correction correction and training in righteousness righteousness that's right so so the scriptures correct us and it's fitly spoken it's good it's like having gold in your hand that's good you want to have some gold in your hand or just your sucker gold you'd rather have some gold in your hand well then listen to the rebuke okay let's keep going uh deborah you want to read verse 13. um like the like the cloud of snow like the cold like the cool of snow in in time of harvest is as is a faithful messenger to those who sent him before he he refreshes the soul of his masters all right so uh it is hot hot all outside a sudden the snow comes it's like a faithful messenger to the one who sends him so do you this is talking about the good news what does the book of isaiah say about the the feet of those who bring good news blessed are those are the feet of those who bring [Music] good news do you like getting good news oh daniel i have good news for you today i'm gonna take you to get a hamster today yeah yeah you're excited about that yeah is that a good news to bring to you yes yeah good news is a blessing to bring good all right verse 14 whoever falsely boasts of giving is like a cloud and rain or in a cloud in wind without rain yeah so what is that saying is saying that you know it's it's good to give but if you are lying about how much you give you know what you are a liar well yeah you're a liar but do you know what it's like to uh go outside in the dead of winter and there's clouds and there's wind and it's so cold but there's no snow it's like why is it even cold if it's going to be cold and cloudy it might as well be snowing yeah all right verse 15 by a long day sunday is when it's cold and windy it's done away yeah that's right okay by long forbearance a ruler is persuaded and a gentle tongue breaks the bones all right so uh this is a point of communication you guys ready be patient when you talk to people be kind and gentle when you talk to people it might take a long time to talk with them for them to understand but might they eventually agree with you yeah but you'll be kind and gentle on to it for a long time verse 16 have you found honey eat home
