33 So they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, 34 saying, “The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!” 35 And they told about the things that had happened on the road, and how He was known to them in the breaking of bread.
36 Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, “Peace to you.” 37 But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit. 38 And He said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”
40 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. 41 But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them, “Have you any food here?” 42 So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. 43 And He took it and ate in their presence.

hey hey welcome to coffee and devotions it is friday morning november 6th this where every weekday morning at 9 00 a.m and on the weekends when i get to spare a moment for my kids you and i we get together we have a little bit of coffee we get into god's word and we grow in our love for the lord together that is very hot coffee so we are at presbyteria this week and i'm going to let you introduce yourself ed hayes from sterling kansas congregation also help with provisional eldership in the wichita trinity congregation for those of you who are familiar with the rp world all right all right so ed is a farmer and he's gonna he's gonna help us out with god's word today so why don't we go ahead and have some coffee pray and we'll get into god's word let's pray father we thank you so much for this day and we thank you for your word we pray that you would have us with ears to hear and minds to understand that we would see and know jesus christ in his name we pray amen all right luke chapter 24 verses 33 through 48. we are almost done with luke by the way just uh i think today or note yeah just one more day after this so lu you want to go ahead and read ed sure so they rose ourselves a what is this about b what's the best verse to summarize this and c what are we called to do in responses i'm going to turn this over or turn this a little bit so ed's better in the frame there keeps trying to hide off to the side and if you just had one sentence to summarize this section what would you say um the uh it's about the revealing of christ revealing himself to the eleven after his resurrection i think that's the general uh gist of what that's what is covered here as far as what's going on yeah yeah absolutely so jesus revealing himself till 11. isn't this interesting right uh jesus shows up and what's his first words uh to them when when he shows up to them peace to you why why do you think jesus would have to tell them peace well it goes on to tell us that they thought maybe they were seeing something that their eyes were messing with them or they were seeing a spirit or whatever and and so they were they were terrified and frightened as it says there in verse 30 so what does jesus do to prove that he's not just some type of phantom or something uh he shows them his hands and his feet and when they still don't quite maybe get it uh he says well you got anything to eat let me prove it to you right you got an embroiled fish i love that section right so he eats with them he shows them his hands and his feet right and it's so interesting that he even says handle me and see for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see i have and so i mean he's giving irrecruitable irrefutable proof that he truly is risen from the dead right and after he says all this uh he kind of gives them some instruction in 40 44 through 48 and what does he try to explain to them in that section um that that uh he is the fulfillment of all that has been written beforehand in the in the scriptures um that he fulfilled as as it tells us in scriptures every jot and tittle of the law was fulfilled in christ and we have confidence in that because it's it is proof to us that christ is who he says he is yeah and that he has fulfilled everything that needed to be fulfilled in the law to be able to reconcile us to our father yeah that's great that's great so if you could just underline one verse in this i'll maybe i'll give you two verses one in the top section one of the bottom section what would you underline as the best verse to summarize this section in that first part oh that's i don't know about the first part there's that it's tough isn't it boy i don't know i i've got something in the second part but i don't know about the first part how about you in the first part well i'm gonna let you guys do it let me know what would you what would you underline in your bible as the best best verse for 40 or 33 through 43 but okay so what about 44 through 48 um let's see verse 45 he opened their understanding that they might comprehend the scriptures all right yeah yeah that's a great one right yeah he he showed them everything that had been prophesied about him i i think i really like i'm gonna i'm gonna add a i'm not gonna go against you i'm just going to add to this here you know i'm going to underline 47 and 48 right that repentance and remission of sin should be preached in his name to all nations beginning at jerusalem of which you are the witnesses uh you know even here he's saying it's going to go out right the work is done and now you're you're going to go spread that good news that you have a risen christ what do you think would as a take away from you for how this should impact your life um first of all i've already kind of mentioned about you know believing that christ is who he says he is it's a reassurance of that confidence and then also the calling upon our lives uh that through the written word uh that we know is is paralleled with christ the living word we have an understanding of of what is written for us and then we have a job to do and that is to preach in his name all right yeah so go
