Christ Reveals the “Living Water”
37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

40 Therefore many from the crowd, when they heard this saying, said, “Truly this is the Prophet.” 41 Others said, “This is the Christ.”
But some said, “Will the Christ come out of Galilee? 42 Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the town of Bethlehem, where David was?” 43 So there was a division among the people because of Him. 44 Now some of them wanted to take Him, but no one laid hands on Him.

hey hey welcome to coffee and devotions this friday morning this is where every weekday morning at 9 00 am and on the weekend when i get a spare moment from these guys you and i we get together we get into god's word we grow in our love for the lord together and this year 2020 we'll make it through all the gospels well this morning we are at john chapter 7 verses 40 or 37 through 44 john chapter 7 verses 37 through 4. why don't we go ahead and have some coffee pray and get the god's word you guys ready to have your tea all right here we go is that hot yeah i bet it is okay john chapter 7 beginning at verse 37 okay deborah can you read verse 37 down to verse 39 right here yep on the last day that great day of feast jesus stood and cried out saying if anyone thirsts let him come to me and drink he who believes in me as the scripture has said out of heart will slow rivers of living water but this he spoke concerning the spirit those whom believing in him would receive for the holy spirit was not yet given because jesus was not yet glorified good job and then nathan can you read verses 40 through 44. who is he no no oh yeah sorry that's the headache you can just read the first little fall therefore many from the crowd when their heart is saying truly this is the prophet others said this is the christ but son said will the christ come out of galilee and not the scriptures said that the christ comes from the seed of david and from the town of bethlehem where david was so there was a division among the people because of him now some of them wanted to take him but no one lays hands on him okay so first we need to ask ourselves a what is this about b what is the best verse to summarize it and see what are we called to do right so first what is this about hey laura good to see you well we first the first part that deborah read versus 40 through 44 or sorry 37 through 39 what does jesus cry out right jesus cries out and he says if anyone thirsts let him come to me right come to me and what drink and drink that's right should all right do you think he's talking about drinking tea no no he's not talking about drinking he must be talking about drinking coffee no no no right he who believes in me as the scriptures has said out of his heart will flow rivers of living water do you remember what he told the samaritan woman right that he would give her water and that she would never thirst again that's right jesus is talking about coming and coming to him and having life in him and so uh but this is he or sorry but this he spoke concerning the spirit right how do we have living water a spirit that's right and so jesus had to be glorified first and then but but then there's a controversy right what happens in verses 40 through 44 um the people are debating about if he's the christ if or if he's not the curse yeah they're debating if he's the christ or not because well hold on he's from galilee he's a he's up from north but where is where is this the christ supposed to be from judah from bethlehem from judah from the line of david david but what is what did we learn about jesus where was he born what city was jesus born in the city of bethlehem he was born in bethlehem and guess what the book of matthew starts off saying that he was the son of david so they don't know this part but jesus is the messiah jesus does have the credentials to be it so what what do you guys think this is about how would you write this in one sentence what is this about i think this is about jesus being the christ what do you guys does that sound good jesus is the christ jesus is the prophet well be best first i think in my bible i'm gonna underline surprise surprise what jesus said right i'm gonna underline if anyone thirsts let him come to me and drink he who believes in me as the scriptures has said out of his heart will flow rivers of living water that's what i'm going to underline what would you underline in your bible well lastly we need to say what are we called to do what do you guys think what are we called to do in response [Music] do we believe yes yeah do we believe in jesus christ do we believe that he could give us life everlasting yeah that's what we're called to believe that he is the christ well why don't we go ahead and pray this morning now hey karen good to see you lord we thank you so much for this day and we thank you for jesus christ we thank you for giving us living water for giving us life eternal life lord we thank you that we could come to you and drink we thank you for pouring out your holy spirit upon your people and we pray that we might find satisfaction and contentment in you in jesus name amen well may the lord bless you today and may he fill your heart with joy and with peace you guys want to say bye bye thanks
