Scripture Passage
The Messiah Teaches
23 But Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified. 24 Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain. 25 He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.
27 “Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save Me from this hour’? But for this purpose I came to this hour. 28 Father, glorify Your name.”
Then a voice came from heaven, saying, “I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.”
29 Therefore the people who stood by and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to Him.”
30 Jesus answered and said, “This voice did not come because of Me, but for your sake. 31 Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. 32 And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.” 33 This He said, signifying by what death He would die.
34 The people answered Him, “We have heard from the law that the Christ remains forever; and how can You say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this Son of Man?”
35 Then Jesus said to them, “A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going. 36 While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light.” These things Jesus spoke, and departed, and was hidden from them.
37 But although He had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him, 38 that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke:
“Lord, who has believed our report?
And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?”
39 Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again:
40 “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts,
Lest they should see with their eyes,
Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn,
So that I should heal them.”
41 These things Isaiah said when he saw His glory and spoke of Him.
42 Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; 43 for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
44 Then Jesus cried out and said, “He who believes in Me, believes not in Me but in Him who sent Me. 45 And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me. 46 I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness. 47 And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. 48 He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. 49 For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. 50 And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak.”
The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), Jn 12:23–50.

dies it remains alone but if it dies it produces much grain he who loves his life will lose it and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life if anyone serves me let him follow me and where i am there my servant will be also if anyone see it serves him my father will honor what's up deborah we are that was verse 26 so verse 26 there so we just read that we're right here now deborah you want to read verse 27 down to and what shall i say father save me from the sour heart but for this purpose i came to this hour so the [Music] from heaven said i have both glorified it will glorify it again therefore the people who stood by and heard it said that it had thunder others said an angel has spoken to him jesus answered and said this voice has not come because of me but for your sake now now is the judgment of this world now the rulers of this world will be cast out and if i am lifted up from the earth will will draw all the peoples to myself then he said signifying but what death this he said signifying by what death he would die the people answered him we have heard from the law that the christ remains forever and how can you say the son of man must be lifted up who is this son of man then jesus said to them a little while longer the light is with you walk while you have the light lest darkness overtake you he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going while you have not the light sorry while you have the light believe in the light that you may be sons of the light these things jesus spoke and departed and was hidden from them nathan you read 37-41 but although he had done so many things before that they did not believe in him that the lord of isaiah the prophet might be filled he spoke lord who has delivered our report and to whom has the arm of the lord been revealed therefore they could not believe because as they are said again he has blind their eyes and hearted their hearts lest at least they they should see with their eyes at least they should understand with their hearts and toes so that i should heal them these things isaiah said when he saw his glory and spoke of him okay where are you nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in him but because but because of the pharisees they did not confess him unless they should be out of the synagogues or they loved the praise of men more than the praise of god then jesus cried out and said he who believes in me believes not in me but him who sent me and he who believes in me sees him who sent me i has come i have come as a light into the world that whoever believes in me should not abide in darkness for if anyone hears my word and does not believe i do not judge him for i did not come to judge the world but to save the world he who rejects me does not receive my words has that which judges him the word that i have spoken will judge him in the last day for i have not spoken on my own authority but the father who sent me gave me a command what i should say and what i should speak and i know that his command is everlasting life therefore whatever i speak just as the father has told me so i speak all right well we have a few different things for us there what do you guys think that this whole section is talking about um it's talking about they don't think he's the promise some people don't think he's a promised one hmm was it told in the bible that that was going to happen where was it in the bible that said that some people would have blind eyes and hard hearts in isaiah that's right what do you remember from the passage deborah [Music] jesus is gonna die on the on the cross [Music] but we'll rise up from the dead okay that's right good and then jesus comes not on his own authority but whose authority does jesus come by um god by the father right and if you believe in the son who does that mean you actually believe it you believe in the father right for the father and the son are one one that's right good well i think in my bible i would underline one of the things that that nathan read when he says he has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts lest they should see with their eyes let's say should understand with our hearts and turn that i should heal them and then i'm also going to underline where jesus says that in verse 26 if anyone serves me let him follow me and where i am there my servant will be also if anyone serves me my father will honor maybe you would underline something else would you underline feel free to let us know down in the comments would is it okay if someone underline something else in their bible yeah maybe they might disagree well what do you think we should do in response to this word what should we do what should we do with god we should believe in god specifically who which person of the godhead jesus that's right we should believe in jesus christ do you believe in jesus christ do you want to see jesus christ do you obey jesus christ this is what the entire book of john was written about that we might believe and have everlasting life do you believe do you cling to jesus christ by faith and through him have life abundantly let's go ahead and pray guys lord we thank you so much for this day and we thank you for this word we pray that we might believe that we might hate our lives here upon the earth and that we might receive it father that we would receive eternal life in jesus christ we pray that you would not let us have hard hearts or blind eyes but that we would follow you with all of our hearts in jesus name amen well may the lord bless you today and fill your heart with joy and peace can you guys say bye
