coffee devotions without? Well good morning. Good morning morning. Welcome to Coffee and devotions every day. You and I we get together we get into God's word like bro when Allah for Lord together wherever Romans chapter six. I'm gonna pray real quick. Listen, but I'm glad we were able to catch back up let's do we thank You for Your Word. We thank you for this beautiful day. You can we thank you for the birds tricky, immersive game. We can see what a wonderful guide you are. Okay, now that you would bless us as we read your word, we pray that we would know who you are, and that we would know the life you've given us in Jesus's name. Amen. All right, here we go. I'm so glad I caught that audio. I always feel like a fool when technology goes wrong. So yesterday I forgot to hit record and stream on the church's livestream so sick people. Our church didn't even get or worship is so bad. Let's go ahead and go to Romans chapter six verses one through 14. What shall we say then? Shall we continue to sin that grace may abou certainly not. How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death. Therefore, we were buried with Him through baptism into death, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we had been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection. Knowing this that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with and that we should no longer be slaves of sin. For he who was for he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall wholesome live with knowing that Christ have you been raised from the dead dies no more, that no longer has dominion over him for the death that he died he died to sin once for all but the life that he lives he lives to God likewise, you yourself. Also recommend yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore, do not let sin reign in your mortal body. That you should obey in its last and do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin or present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God For sin shall not have dominion over you, or you are not under law, but under grace. Well what else amazing passage we need to ask ourselves a What is this about be what's the best version, some racism, see, what are we called to do in response to these words? So what is this about? Well, he he's coming off of chapter five, where he's talked about our life in Jesus Christ versus death and Adam, and he's saying, now the rhetorical question, hold on here. Should we sin that grace should abandon that right? So if we're in Christ, and we're not an Adam, and we're not understanding anymore, does that mean that we can just keep on sinning so that we can have more and more and more graces as certainly not May it never be mega northa Right, no, absolutely not. I love the King James translation here. They're more periphrastic they really are in other places, and God forbid I had no absolutely not, don't even let it come to your mind. They may never be the question, right? Well, why well, in verse two, How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? In Christ we died dissing because Christ died in where you need to do Christ. So how are we going to live in sin? If we're in Christ? So there's there's a disconnect here that he's saying, Hold on, hold on, you haven't understood what I'm saying? We're not in Adam. We're in Christ. And if we're in Christ, then we're not we're no longer that old person. So it says that we've been baptized into Jesus's death. Right, but have we had that water put upon us we were baptized into his death.
So the logical conclusion from the inverse forest therefore we were buried with Him through baptized, that doesn't interest him, and just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father even so we should walk in the newness of life. See, Jesus didn't just dying to sin, but he rose again from the dead. And if we are in Christ, and we have also risen again and we and we are living to God just as Christ died, then he truly did die. He was put in that grave and three days later, he rose again and now he lives for His Father's glory. So we live for our Father's glory. We don't sin Hold on, that was our own. So that was our old way. So it was unregenerate state. That was our pre born again. identity was enacted, but now we're in Christ and Christ lives to God, His righteousness, live to righteousness. Or we have been united together in the likeness of His death. Certainly also we shall be in the likeness of His resurrection. See, we should be so closely identified with the resurrection of Christ, that we recognize ourselves that same way or was crucified with Him. That's what we're gonna say. So our old man was crucified with him. Why? That the body of sin might be done away with that we should no longer be slaves to
sin. Now I know some of you will feel like there are sins that you've struggled with. I know in my own life, those sins that I
wrestled with the rest of you know that maybe some of you you wrestle with the sin of gluttony, then they're right there with you struggling for for that fruit of the spirit of self control. You're not a slave to your sin.
Maybe you've fallen into this trap. I need to talk to you here. We'll just need to be honest with you. Okay, we live
in this world. Where people's makes it out to be like who they are. Well, I guess I'm just an angry person. Well, I guess I'm just fat. Or I guess I'm just a person who lacks self control. Well,
I guess I'm just add any sin onto it. And put it as part of their identity. I guess I'm just
a drunk. No, hold on. You want you're not a slave to sin if you are in Christ. You are not a slave to sin. Let me say it one more time. You are not a slave to sin. You do not have an iron collar around your neck. Jesus Christ and broken those chains. Jesus Christ is taken away that the minion death. If you are in Christ, those shackles have been on loosed. They are they're loosened and done. You are not easily to say no, we're gonna get into chapter seven, which still reality of fighting. But here, brother and sister I don't know who you are, who needs this this morning. You're not asleep. You can defeat it. You can't fight against it. You're always going to struggle. Whether the dragon the multi headed dragon who's always gonna be there, but you can put your your foot on the neck of one of its heads. You can have victory over something. Sometimes we get into this, this bad rut. And we think that somehow we're still slaves to some brother or sister did not. For he who has died has been freed from sin. Like sin doesn't have any rightful claim over us and the punishment of sin is an honest nonetheless. There's no sin as dominion is done.
Now if we died to Christ, we also believe that we will we shall also live with him and someday, someday. abayas will be raised again and we're not going to be able to sit anymore.
See it started? Oh, it has started at some day the work is going to be complete and we're no longer going. Knowing that Christ having been raised from the dead dies, no more see Jesus or Jesus is death was enough. Jesus's death is not going to die anymore. Because the death no longer has. Jesus defeated death and if he defeated death, he defeated death for you and for me. Then these are verses I'm just gonna go ahead and say it what are the best verses to summarize this section? Well, I've gotten these double underline under my margin. I got side notes and everything it says for the death that he died he died to sin once for all. But the life he lives he lives to God. Likewise, you also reckon yourselves to be dead descend but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Count yourself this way. You must consider yourself count yourself this way. The same way in which God counts you righteous. Now you are to count yourself dead to sit the same way in which God reckoned you righteous. You are to reckon yourselves dead descend you need to have a total mind switch port or brain swap where we we need to stop thinking of ourselves as as shackled to sin. We need to think of ourselves. We need to count ourselves we need to record ourselves alive in Christ. We are alive to God in Christ. So I'm going to give you four different things you must do as we work through this last section, right first is you need to count I need to count myself dead distance. So number one, count myself dead. Number two, count myself alive to Christ. It would just saw that year. Three and Four come in verses 12 and 13/3. We need to realize or sorry we need to refuse to let sin reign in my life even larger. Small beautiful what I wrote down we need to refuse to let sin reign in our life. You need to verse 12. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body that you should obey its laws. You must fight to get sick. God has redeemed you for food that has raised you up from the dead Ephesians chapter two that you might do the good work so he has prepared beforehand in advance for you to do Ephesians two. God has raised us up in Christ Jesus that we might no longer be slaves to sin says so refused to let sin reign in your mortal life. And alas, number four, offer yourself we need to offer ourselves to God in Romans chapter four, I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice 14 acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service we are to bring God at whole lives as a living sacrifice. You can do it. You can do these things Christians because the Spirit of Christ is in you and you are in Christ. And so, record yourself, dentist, record yourself alive to God. refuse to let sin reign in your mortal body and present your bodies a living sacrifice. Well, I think I've just covered calling and wears drives and all that. I'm going to pray for you and pray for myself. And then I'll say, Lord, thank You for this amazing, amazing news you have given us or we pray that your spirit not this this would not be sensible legalism word by your Spirit so Unitas that Jesus Christ, that your word would be true in our hearts and our lives that we truly would have measurable victory over sin God we pray that you would urge us just from sin that you would make us more and more holy. Lord, we pray that we would not see ourselves as slaves to sin. But then we follow you all of our lives. Thank you for the death and resurrection of our Lord and Jesus's omega. God bless you today. When you walk in the joy of Jesus Christ and I'll see you tomorrow Bye
You
