All right. There we go. Wonderful. Well, good afternoon. Good afternoon. Welcome to Coffee and devotions where every day you and I we get together, we get into the Lord's word. We have a little bit coffee, and we grow in our love for Lord together in this year 2022. We'll make it from the book of Acts all the way to the book of Philemon. And we're at Romans chapter five. Romans chapter five, the first 11 verses this morning or this afternoon, let's have some coffee. We'll pray and we'll get into the Lord's word. Let's pray. Father, we thank you so much for this day, and we thank You for Your Word. We pray that as we read your word today that you would be working in our hearts that we would rejoice and all you have done. Teach us holy spirit, we pray in Jesus's name, Amen. All right. Oh, trying to find my glasses where my glasses old man can't read without his glasses very well. All right, Romans chapter five verses one through 11. Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace, in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance, perseverance, character, and character hope. No hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. Who was given to us. For when we were still without strength. In due time, Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die but God demonstrates His own love toward us. In that wall, we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more than having now been justified by His blood. We shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation. What a wonderful passage, one of my favorite passages and all the Bible. We need to ask ourselves, what's this about? What's the best verses? That summarize this section? What are we called to do in response to these verses? But first, what is this about? The first part, I really liked how the King James version they put a little headings on Inez face, Faith triumphs over trouble. I think that's great. All right. We've been justified. It starts off, picking up where we were with leaving Abraham and that he was Jesus was delivered up because of our offenses and was just was raised for because of our justification, therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God, through whom, through our Lord Jesus Christ. We have notice two things here. Two things first, we have been justified by faith we have been declared righteous by the instrumentality of faith. Number two, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. At once we were at enmity with God enemies, according to the flesh. But now he has reconciled us through Jesus Christ, we have peace with him, we've made whole through Jesus Christ. This is the beauty. This is why we have been called Christians for 2000 years, right because it's Christ. We're justified by Christ. We're given peace with God by Christ, and says, through whom we all we also have access by faith into this grace which we stand and rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. We have access to this grace by faith. How do we come into God's favor? By faith in Jesus Christ?
How do we have hope in the person and work of Jesus Christ? There's a wide my buddy out in California Ricky, he says that we need to make Jesus famous again, right? We didn't talk about Jesus, we didn't get our eyes back on Jesus. We didn't focus on Jesus Christ. So not only that, and this is this is where it kind of gets into well, we'll just jump into calling a little bit verses three through five here. But not only that, we know but we glory in tribulations. When there's hardships in our life when there's when there's persecution that comes when there's, there's things that are thrown against us. What does it say? Does that destroy us? No. Tribulation, produces perseverance, perseverance, character and character, hope and hope does not disappoint us. Right, whatever you're going through in your life, some of you might be going through extremely hard things in your life right now. Some of you are going through some things that are so so heart wrenching, so soul sapping so, so difficult in your life. That you just what is what is going on here? Why is God doing this? Why is this being allowed? He's teaching you to look to Christ. Because tribulation produces character and character produces hope. And hope does not disappoint us. It points us back to Christ. Everything in your life God is using the molding in your life, your pain. He's using it to bring you to Christ. Your heart aches. He's using it to bring you to Christ. Family problems. He's using it to bring you to Christ. Persecution he's using it to bring you to Christ. Because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit whom he has given us see? See, it's when we go through these challenging and difficult things in our lives. That His Holy Spirit is even is even more near and dear to us. I remember when I was at a hospital and with a with a woman her husband was dying. And that she was she was struggling with this. You know, she just said I don't understand what's going on here. I don't understand how this is to God's glory. I remember I had been weeping with her and weeping with her and in that moment of vulnerability I remember telling her these very words.
A lot Lord is bidding you to draw near to Him right now. The Lord is doing this to teach you to cling to him. At this moment in time he wants you to know that he has felt that pain
that he knows what it's like to suffer. And he has given you your His Holy Spirit that you would cling to him that you would persevere, that you would have character and that you would never be disappointed. By the hope that you have in Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit because God's love has been poured out upon you. For when we are yet without strength and this is where God demonstrates His love right. He shows us when we were without strength in due time, Christ died for the ungodly see the the hero showed up. The hero of the Christian story is not me. The hero of the Christian story is not you. The hero of the Christian story is not David the hero of the Christian story is Jesus. Not the Apostle Paul. Not Peter. It's Jesus. It's Jesus. We were without strength and due time, Christ died for the ungodly. This is the amazing thing. That God stepped into the mess that God didn't just leave us on our own. But God demonstrated better than that. He demonstrates His own love toward us. In that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. The just for the unjust the righteous for the unrighteous. It was Jesus. It was Jesus who knew what it was like to have the full glories of heaven. And yet he demonstrates his love presently now in your life and in my life. With the truth of the good news that Jesus Christ came and died for us. This is how Jesus demonstrated His own love toward us. Love has no greater than this friend should lay down his life for another. And Jesus did that. God demonstrates His love. He steps into heart pain or pain. He knows our hardship even while we were enemies he reconciles us through the body and blood of Jesus Christ. Much more than having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath through him. See, we don't need to fear. If you have faith in Christ, if you are in Christ, if you have been united to Christ of the Spirit of Jesus Christ is in you and you are in Jesus. You have no need to fear the judgment day because the price has been paid. For if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his son. How much more having been reconciled, shall we be saved by His life? Do see it's getting us to the resurrection again. We have been we've been cleansed by his blood but if he is alive then you are going to live. Death is not the end of the story.
If Jesus is alive, then you have a standing before God. Then you have been justified. And though you may taste death you will not languish in the grave but you will be with God forever. And so he says, and not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
If you believe in Jesus Christ, you have been taken out of the camp of enemy and brought into the camp of child. He pours out His Spirit into your heart, a spirit that cries out Abba, Father, and he says Come Come to me. find rest for your soul. Drink from the well. I know you don't have any money coming by freely. Come find rest for your soul. Come live for eternity. Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us and He has sent His Holy Spirit to comfort us and to lead us to that place. Cling to him. We're just going to skip over stuff. I'm just going to pray for you today. God thank you for reconciling us in Jesus Christ. Thank you for the life that you have given us. Lord, thank You that You show us your great love. You prove it. God I pray for each and every person who is watching or listening to this that they might cling to the hope of Jesus Christ, knowing that in Him alone, we can have reconciliation of our sins. In Jesus's name, Amen. Well, may you claim that Jesus Christ, may you rest in His grace. May you rejoice always in the work of your finished Lord, in the highs of your life and in the lows of your life. Rejoice always. And again I say rejoice. I'll see you tomorrow.
