Psalm 9

Apparently, this is family edition. So why don't we go ahead and have some coffee. We don't have any coffee, but we can get into God's Word still, right?
All right, let's pray and get into God's Word. Father, we thank you so much for this day and we thank you for your Word. We pray now that as we read that your Spirit work in us, build us up in our faith. In Jesus' name, amen. All right, here we go. So guys, we're right here at Psalm 9. You ready? Up here, Deborah. Prayer and Thanksgiving for the Lord's righteous judgment. Okay, here we go. To the chief musician, to the tune of Death of the Son, a psalm of David. Okay, Nathan, can you read one and two?
I will praise you, O Lord, with my whole heart. I will tell of all the marvels of the world. I will be glad and rejoice in you. I will praise your name. Can you do three through five? Real loud, I can. When my enemies turn back, they will fall upon and perish at your presence. For they have maintained my right and my cause.
You sat on the throne, judging the righteousness. You've rebuked the nations. You have destroyed the wicked. You have blotted their name forever and ever. Mom, you want to do six through eight? Oh, enemy, destructions are finished forever, and you have destroyed cities. Even their memory has perished, but the Lord shall endure forever.
He has prepared His throne for judgment. He shall judge the world in righteousness, and He shall administer judgment for the peoples in uprightness. The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in time of trouble. And those who know Your name will put their trust in You. For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
Sing praises to the Lord who dwells in Zion. Declare his deeds among the people. When he avenges blood, he remembers them. He does not forget the cry of the humble. Have mercy on me, O Lord. Consider my trouble from those who hate me. You who lift me from the gates of death, that I may tell all your praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion. I will rejoice in your salvation. The nations have sunk down in the pit they prepared." Or in the pit they made. And the net which they hid their own foot is caught. The Lord is known by the judgment He executes. The wicked is snared in the works of His own hands. Meditation. Salah.
Nathan, can you read 17 and 18? And wicked shall be torn into hell. and all the nations that forget God. For the needy shall not always be forgotten. The expectation of the poor should not perish forever. Deborah, can you read the last two verses? Arise, O Lord, do not let men prevail. Let the nations be judged in your sight. Put them into Fear, O Lord, that the nations may know themselves to be but men. Selah. Good. What do you guys think he's saying? Do you think he's saying that the nations are good? Bad. Bad? Who do the nations need to bow to?
God. Who do the nations need to bow down to, Dan? God. God. That's right. Why do you think they need to bow down to God? Because he's the god of the universe? Because he's a god. No other gods are like him. That's right. He is the one true living god. And there are no other gods. That's right. Yeah, that's right. So is he one amongst many? Nope. He alone is God. He's one God. No, He's a ruler of all the people except the bad people. You know what it says here? He's even ruler of the bad people. Did you know bad people don't want Him to be their ruler?
Mm-hmm. But is He still their ruler? Mm-hmm. I already know that. You already knew that? Yeah, but everybody needs to bow to Jesus Christ. That's what He's saying here, right? And does God judge righteously or unrighteously? Righteously. So let me think here, okay? So we've just done A, we're going to skip B. We'll let you guys do B, the best verse to summarize this. Let's do C, calling. What do you think, how do you think we should live knowing that God is the one who is the judge? He's the judge. He's the God. How do you think that should work out in your life? That God's the judge. So you think you should only worship Him?
What about you, Deborah? What do you think this looks like in your life? What did we just learn about? Did we learn about missions? Can all the nations come and bow to Jesus? Yes. What about you, mom? Is there any way that you think this goes to your life?
I mean, he talks about that God will take care of all the wicked. And so we have someone that we can, God is someone we can rest in, that we don't need to worry about. That's right. God's going to be the one who judges, right? That gives us a great deal of confidence. We don't need to be super preoccupied with our own rights or our own judgments or, oh no, is God going to judge or is it always going to be unfair? Because we know at the end of the day, who's the righteous judge?
God. That's right. That should give us comfort, eternal comfort. Let's go ahead and pray, guys. Thank you for listening today. Lord, we thank you so much for your word. that we would know that you are the righteous judge, that we can trust in you always. Please care for us. Please let us walk in this truth.
