Scripture Passage
The Law of the Sin Offering
24 Also the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 25 “Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, ‘This is the law of the sin offering: In the place where the burnt offering is killed, the sin offering shall be killed before the Lord. It is most holy. 26 The priest who offers it for sin shall eat it. In a holy place it shall be eaten, in the court of the tabernacle of meeting. 27 Everyone who touches its flesh must be holy. And when its blood is sprinkled on any garment, you shall wash that on which it was sprinkled, in a holy place. 28 But the earthen vessel in which it is boiled shall be broken. And if it is boiled in a bronze pot, it shall be both scoured and rinsed in water. 29 All the males among the priests may eat it. It is most holy. 30 But no sin offering from which any of the blood is brought into the tabernacle of meeting, to make atonement in the holy place, shall be eaten. It shall be burned in the fire.
The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), Lev 6:24-30
A — About
What Is This Passage About?
The Lord gives Aaron's sons the law of the sin or purification offering: it is killed where the burnt offering is killed, is most holy, and has strict rules for priestly eating, blood-stained garments, cooking vessels, and offerings whose blood enters the holy place. God clearly provides Israel a secure way for guilt to be addressed.
B — Best Verse
Which Verse Best Summarizes the Passage?
Leviticus 6:25-26
Bryan explicitly identifies verses 25-26 as underlined because they state where the sin offering is killed, its holiness, and the priest's role in eating it.
C — Called or Christ
C — Christ Connection
Go to Jesus, trust him, and love him. God has made a way to be right with him through Christ's finished work on the cross; Jesus is the true sin offering rather than an offering believers provide for themselves.

hey hey good morning good morning welcome to coffee and devotions this where every day you and I we get together we have a little bit of coffee we get into God's word and we grow in our love for the Lord together in this year 2023 Lord willing make it from Genesis through Leviticus I'm so glad to be with you this morning we are at Leviticus chapter 6 going to round off that chapter let's have some coffee we'll pray and we'll get into God's word let's pray father we thank you so much for this today thank you for the blessing of being able to read your word please help us to understand it please work it into our hearts by the power of your Holy Spirit please teach us in Jesus's name amen here you are we are at Leviticus chapter 6 beginning at verse 24 also the Lord spoke to Moses saying speak to the sons of Aaron and to his sons saying this is a law of the sin offering in the place where the burnt offering is killed the sin offering shall be killed before the Lord it is most holy the priest who offers it for sin shall eat it in a holy place it shall be eaten in the court of the Tabernacle of meeting everyone who touches its flesh must be holy and when its blood is sprinkled On Any Garment you shall wash that on which it was sprinkled in a holy place but the Earth and vessel in which it is boiled shall be broken and if it is boiled in a bronze pot it shall be scoured and rinsed in water all the males among the priests may eat it it is most holy but no sin offering from which any of the blood is brought into the Tabernacle of meeting to make an atonement in the Holy Place shall be eaten it shall be burned in the fire well we need to ask ourselves our ABCs A what's this about B what's the best ver to summarizes and C what are we called to do right what what are we supposed to do about this so what is this about well this is this tresspass offering or sin offering sorry the sin offering some people will call it a purification offering uh and as as we get into this passage right what we see is that God provides a way for Sinners to be made right with him it's no secret this is the beautiful thing about how clear God is versus all the other gods of the Old Testament or you know of the Pagan Nation surrounding Israel you never knew why they were mad with you or what you needed to do to get on their good side you didn't know if you gave them enough food or the wrong food you didn't know if you gave them the right amount of food or if they just wanted to be mean right you they didn't have any security but not so for Israel Israel knew who their God was Israel could worship their God Israel could trust their God and even when there was sin there is a way for that guilt for that sin to be dealt with and so Aaron and his sons right this is a law of the sin offering and a place where the burnt offering is killed the sin offering shall be killed before the Lord it is most holy right so it's supposed to happen at the altar same place you know have to go find some mysterious place just go to the altar make a sin offering after you make it the priest are allowed to eat it no not the blood not the blood but the meat they're allowed to eat the meat now if just as I was researching this passage and thinking I've came across a ancient uh Jewish philosopher his name is Philo he lived just before around the time of Jesus and he said this about about this passage he said in sin we should procrastinate and be slow and dilatory in approaching it but when when the accomplishment of righteousness is in in sorry is our when the accomplishment of righteousness is our goal act with speed and and go quickly right that's when there's sin go slow don't don't don't be quick to sin be quick towards righteousness be quick towards running to the Lord and isn't it a blessing that even when we do sin there is a righteous one who has made a way for us to be right with him what's this passage about well this is the institution of that sin offering and it's a blessing for the people of Israel what's the best verse to summarize this well in my Bible I have uh verse 25 underlined and verse 26 that's what I got underlined it's the sin offering it's supposed to be made at the altar same place with the with the burnt offering but what is this calling us to do right God has made a way for us to be right with him even today and the offering that is lifted up is not our offering but it was Jesus Christ's finished work on the cross he is our sin offering he is the one who has made it right uh made a way for us to be right with him so go to him trust him love him let's pray father we thank you so much for this day and we pray that you would please let us walk in your ways let us trust in you father please help us Lord to follow after you all the days of our lives in Jesus's name amen well may God bless you may you walk in the joy and peace of Jesus Christ and I'll see you next time bye thanks for listening to this week's
