Leviticus 6:14-23

well good morning good morning good morning welcome to coffee and devotions this where every day you and I we get together we have a little bit of milk tea milk coffee coffee we get into God's word and we grow in our love of the Lord together in this year 2023 Lord willing we'll make it from Genesis through Leviticus Leviticus that's right Genesis through Leviticus why don't we have some coffee milk tea whatever you happen to have we'll pray we'll have a little bit and we'll get into God's word all right let's pray father we thank you so much for this day Lord we pray that you would please instruct us teach us grow us and our knowledge of you our love for you in Jesus's name amen all right so we are at Leviticus Leviticus chapter 6 and in Leviticus right we went through chapters 1 through 5 together and in chapters 1 through 5 it was all about if an Israelite brings an offering this is the type of things they should bring this is how they should bring it now it's about the priests how the priests deal with the offerings you should do this and if you're doing this this yeah but now this is what the priests are supposed to do with that offering okay so we are at chapter 6 verses 14 through 23 de you want to scoop close and you can uh how about you read verses 14-8 and then Nathan I'll have you read verses 19- 23 okay so uh you're going to answer questions all right this is the law of the grain offering the sons of Aaron shall offer it on the altar before the Lord okay so they're going to all offer what type of offering before the a grain offering or like a cereal offering okay he shall take from it his handful of fine flour of the grain offering with his oil and all the frankincense which is on the grain offering and shall burn it on the Altar for a sweet Aroma as a memorial to the Lord okay so there's a grain offering and now it's kind of summarizing what that grain offering is right it's got a little bit oil and frankincense the sweet smelling Aroma to the Lord all that we have already learned but now there's new material verses 16- 18 how about I read that say cool okay and the remainder of it Aaron and his sons shall eat with unleavened bread it shall be eaten in a holy place in the court of the Tabernacle of meeting they shall eat it all right so if you bring a a grain offering a cereal offering what is what what's Aaron and his son supposed to do are it supposed is it supposed to be totally burned in the fire no no what's supposed to happen that's supposed to take like a handful of it they're supposed to eat it right whatever's not burned they eat it eat it well how do they burn it without well it's like roasting it oh so like cookings like yeah that's right uh it shall be baked it shall not be baked with leaven I have given it as their portion of my offerings made by fire it is most holy like the sin offering and the trespass offering all the males among the children of Aaron may eat it it shall be a statute forever in your Generations concerning the offerings made by fire to the Lord everyone who touches them must be holy all right so this is the grain offering and the normal grain offering if anybody brings it to the Lord right it's it's a holy offering but the but what are the priests allowed to do eat eat that's right so Nathan can you read 19 through 23 now this is a little bit different and the Lord spoke to Moses saying this is the offering of Aaron and his sons which they shall offer to the Lord beginning on the day when he is he when he is his son's what beginning on the day when he is Anointed one1 of the EA a fine flower as a daily Grandin offering half of it in the morning and half b at of it at night okay so interestingly now it's still a what type of offering priest offering it's a it's a grain offering by the priest but now it's is it the people bringing this offering no it's the priest Bring It's the priest bringing the offering right so if a priest brings an offering it's going to be different right they can do it at day and at night it shall be made in a pan with oil when it is mixed you shall bring it in the baked pieces of the green off you shall offer for a sweet of woman to the Lord the priest among his sons who is Anointed in his place shall offer it it is a statue forever the Lord it shall be woly born oh not woolly holy bur holy Bor B for every Grandin offering for the priest shall be holy born it shall not be eaten okay so what's the difference if if a if somebody if a normal person brings a grain offering the priest or to burn it or roast whatever is left but eat whatever is left but if a priest brings a grain offering put in the pan with olive oil yeah it's almost like making cornbread right but what did they what do you do with that you bur burn it and then you eat the ashes no it's burned entirely right so you see there's a difference between these okay so what do you think is so so you got to Mommy asks you later she says what in the world was this about what would you tell her offerings okay the priests and the grain offerings good so that's what this is about the priests and the grain offerings good um what do you think is the best best thing to summarize this doin in chist okay yeah I think that'd be fine I I have underlined in my Bible it shall and shall burn it on the Altar for a sweet Aroma as Memorial to the Lord a sweet Aroma to the Lord so when things are um repeated of that means it's important but yeah if you might underline things about the priests and the burnt offerings I think I would under the the pan you think you would underline the pan well what do you think uh do we have a a tabernacle today nope but it not not a um not an Earthly Tabernacle okay so there's not an Earthly Tabernacle so how does this apply to us then what do you think how are we called is there anything about this that is kind of like with Covenant or with Christ or a connection to us somewhere I don't think but I what do you think I can't put my hand on it well I think it'd be difficult to make a connection here but I think there might be a connection in that is there a sacramental meal that we are invited to yeah what's that sacramental meal um the wedding well yeah the wedding pie of the lamb but regularly often at church we take the Lord's supper and what's one of the elements in the Lord's Supper there's two elements the bread and the wine the bread I think is similar to The Grain offering here I'm not saying it's the exact same but when Jesus says this is a new covenant in my my blood right and one of the things he talks about with this sacramental meal is he takes is it does he just take uh just take wine he also takes bread and he breaks it and he gives it to him and says this is my body broken for you I Think Jesus is acting almost like a high priest here he's going to offer up his own body as this grain often it's it's a little bit of a stretch maybe and that's okay right but I think it that it can remind us of Jesus that way all right you guys ready to pray okay let's pray father we thank you so much that you are the one who instituted these holy offerings because they are sweet smelling Aroma to you they are pleasing to you Lord you are the one who brought in the grain you're the one who brought in the Harvest it's the harvest season here we see the beans being taken out the corns being corn being harvested and we remember that you are the one who provides for our lives and Lord you have provided more than just for our physical lives but you have given us the bread of life Jesus Christ and so father we pray that we would love you and walk in your ways in Jesus's name we pray amen all right you guys want to say goodbye bye bye may the Lord bless you and may you rejoice in
