4 Now the Passover, a feast of the Jews, was near. 5 Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” 6 But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do.
7 Philip answered Him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little.”
8 One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him, 9 “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?”
10 Then Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. 11 And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted. 12 So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.” 13 Therefore they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten. 14 Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”

hey hey welcome to coffee and devotions this friday morning this is november 27th that's where every weekday morning at 9 a.m and on the weekends when i get a spare moment for my kids you and i we get together we have a cup of coffee we get into god's word and we grow in our love for the lord together well i guess it's kind of like a four day weekend so uh workouts are different things are just a little bit different going to spend a few seconds in god's word this morning wait for a few people to jump on why don't we go ahead and have some coffee and pray as we wait for others to join us let's go ahead and pray father we thank you so much for this day we thank you for your word and we pray now that your holy spirit would be with us that you would teach us and that you would draw us near to yourself in jesus name amen okay why don't we go ahead and open up our bibles we are at john chapter 5 john chapter 5 and we will uh look today at verses 41 john 5 41 and we'll read through chapter 6 verse 21 i think yeah john chapter 6 verse 21. why don't we go ahead and read i do not receive honor from men but i know you that you have that you do not have the life of god in you i have come in my father's name and you do not receive me if another comes in his own name you will him you will receive how can you believe whom you receive honor from another and do not seek the honor that comes from the only god do not think that i shall accuse you to the father there is one who accuses you moses in whom you trust for if you believed moses you would believe me for he wrote about me but if you do into the boat and immediately the boat was at the land where they were going well what incredible passages we have for us we need to ask ourselves hey what is this about b what's the best verse to summarize this and see what are we called to do in response to this a what is this about well there's a few different sections here right the first section 41 through the end of chapter 5 is jesus still testifying about him and the father and about how all the old testament pointed to jesus and then in the next section what happens right after these things jesus goes away and he's by the mountain there and at a great multitude come around him and jesus does one of his amazing miraculous signs doesn't he he feeds 5 000 people from five barley loaves and two small fish i i find this story incredible right jesus is the creator of the world hebrews tells us that all things were created by him and through him they are sustained it is jesus who as the creator of the world is there and he is now creating again he is now bringing food from nothing i mean even philip right there's like two of 5 000 people we'd need 200 denarii and still that wouldn't be even be enough right and jesus says he's testing his faith right do you believe that the father has actually sent him and so jesus does this amazing miracle and people believe it and people believe it so much that they want to right away turn around and make them king right that's what this next part said verse 15 therefore when jesus perceived that they were about to come and take him by force and make him king he withdraws he goes back to the mountain back to a solitary place and his disciples get in the boat and they start rowing and rowing and rowing are they the lake of galilee this uh sea of tiberias on the on the wide part about six miles so they're halfway through and they can't make it right there it's it's late at night they're rowing they're rowing they're rowing and in the middle of the night when they see jesus walking upon the water the one who created the earth and caused the green the green plants to grow up had made the bread the one who had covered the face of the deep with the water was now the one who was walking upon the water this was no ordinary man this was god himself jesus christ he wouldn't be forced to be king but he would earn that crown the way his father had prepared him do we believe in jesus christ that's our calling today we're just going to skip over b go straight to c c calling do we believe in jesus christ do we believe in the one who created all things and who can remake us do we believe in him who has come to take away our sins and to make us right with god that we might be his children let's pray father we thank you so much for this day and we thank you for the finished work of jesus christ we thank you that he was not just some ordinary man but even though he was equal with you one with you in heaven that he humbled himself and took on the likeness and form of human man fully man and fully god and displayed his might and his power we pray that we would believe in him we believe we pray that we would believe the most the words of moses that were written about him and that we would trust him with all of our hearts mind soul and strength in jesus name amen well may god bless you today and i'll see you tomorrow if this video is helpful
