What? vanilla chai, Hey, you want to move that microphone closer in front of your mouth so that way everybody's able to hear you. Well? I think so. All right. Maybe people online can tell us if they can hear you well or not. So So you talking into the side? It should actually be pointed towards your mouth, so to speak in that way. There we go. All right. Well, why don't we? What are you doing? You act like you're outside. All right. Well, why don't we have some good morning good morning. Welcome to Coffee. This is where every day we get together, we get into and we grow and our love for the Lord together. And this year 2023. Lord willing, we'll make it from Genesis to Leviticus. Well, we have just a couple of verses for us today. And so why don't we have some coffee? We'll pray we'll get into God's word. Some coffee
bumping the microphones like crazy today. I'm sorry. All right. Let's pray. Lord, we thank you so much for this day. What a wonderful blessing it is to get to come to your word and we pray that you would watch over us now. Please, Father care for us. And let us understand your plan of redemption in Jesus's name, Amen. All right, so we're at Genesis. There we go. Put on the old spectacles put on the old Ben Franklin's and oh, where's your Bible, Baba? Oh, are you gonna go for the big print? Okay, the big, gigantic toId mega print Alright, so we're at Genesis chapter 11. I bet you can't find Genesis Baba
Okay, well you pass Genesis already. See, I told you you couldn't find it. Genesis So Genesis 11 You're still too far. Almost there huh? Genesis chapter 11. And we'll begin at verse 27. You there. All right.
Why don't you read? Do you want to read the first paragraph or the second paragraph?
You want to read the first one. Okay, so you'll read 27 to 30. Okay, we're right here Abba, Abram. Camphill Oh, so this is hard right? Abram ne hor and Haoran.
In his child, John Ebron and Noah,
Abram in name your name of Abraham's wife was Sarah. That's right.
Milka
is her
and then verse 30. Sally, sarai
and Tara took his son Abram and his grandson lot, the son of her Ron and his daughter in law, Sarai, his son, Abrams wife, and they went out with them from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to the land of Canaan, and they came to her run, and walk out there. So the days of Tara were 205 years, and Tara died in Iran. Well, this is this starts a new Tola dose. Do you know what Tala dose might mean? And I'll give you it's one of the first few words in verse 27. Well, you lost it. So it's here. Somewhere at your total dose? What's a gene good good. Yes, man genealogies, right. So so this is a new genealogy. Oh, you know what? We didn't even say this. First we need to ask a what is this? B, what's a and see what are we? That's right. Okay. So what is this about? So this is a new Tila dot, right? So the Hebrew is something like the la tele dot Tara so in these is this is a new genealogy of Tara and immediately it goes into Tara's kids. And he's got three boys. What's the three boys name?
Yeah, Abram, name four, and Harun, who do you think is going to be the main focus of this? Abram, right and I was being a little bit picky about names, especially Abram. Because Abram later on is going to get a new name and what do you know his name is? April Abraham, right. And so right now his name his daddy gets him as Abram and Abram. He's got a wife. And what's Abraham's wife's name? Sarai. That's right. And I was being a little bit picky about serise name because she's also going to be renamed by Laurie and what's she going to be called? Sarah? Right. So we have to be a little bit careful in Genesis because sometimes people's names change. And so where are they from? Or, or and that's in the land of the child DNS. So that's ancient Mesopotamia. So some were kind of by the Persian Gulf, maybe south of where Baghdad would be today. And so they lived in that area. And so they get up and leave Tara and who does Tara Tegan verse 31?
The son of
her own Yeah, so he takes just a couple people, right? He takes Abram takes Sarai and he takes lot lot is Abrams nephew. Right? So her friend's son, so he's his nephew. And so they go and where do they depart to Canaan? That's right. So they they depart to Canaan, but they didn't actually make it all the way. Now it's interesting. They Haoran is his son. All right, so it's Hi, Ron. So these are two different letters in Hebrew. You ready? But they make it to Karen. So to hit instead of a hey, it's weird but the places Hi Ron, versus His name is Harlan. Names and this this part of the chapter kind of close and similar, aren't they? Yeah, but they make it to her on and that is as far as they get and what happens to Tara
she has a day in jail with 240.
So what happened?
Tara died.
Yeah, so So has God's promise failed that he would bring a seed from the woman who had crushed the head of the serpent? No, why not?
Because a
lot is alive who else is alive?
Hey, Baba.
Abram is still alive, right? And so it's still possible. It's still possible and so the genealogy is going to keep going. We're gonna find out more and so chapter 12 will actually start learning about Abram and who he is and what he's supposed to do.
Done,
they might have what? Well, not by this time, actually, in the last section we we looked at with shims, descendants, people started living less and less and less. So they might have said yeah, he died young compared to his great grandpa great grandpa lived 400 years.
I know was already passed. Yeah.
Yep. So this is so that was the last section so the last section was 10 to 26. And that got us from Shem one of him sons all the way down to Tara. And so we talked about it yesterday that the lifespans were decreasing and decreasing and decreasing. And so Tara is the last one who's going to be a bicentennial. So he'll have lived 200 years. Abram doesn't live that long.
Honestly, on the one thing, how God says to know that no one move past 100
Well, that means that the flood was going to happen in 120 years. Yeah, it didn't mean that that was going to be their lifespans, but that the lifespans like the rest of the people who were living, they will die. He was saying when the flood was going to come, a lot of people read it and think, oh, that means that there's going to be like their lifespans. But right here in chapter 11, we know that that's not the case because people are still living 500 400 300 years.
Till now, I don't think anyone has.
Now there are people who have lived past 120 I'm not sure recently there's been anybody who's lived past 130. Well, I know that there have been people who have lived over 120 Within last 20 years, because when I was growing up, there used to be a little segment on a news channel, where the weatherman I think his name was Al Roker. He would give birthday wishes to the oldest people in America. So that was kind of a fun thing. Okay, so what do you think? So summarize this for me. What do you think this passage was about? Genealogy of terror of terror right? But eventually Jesus would come you forgot we talked so much about other stuff you forgot. Yeah. Yeah. So it's, it's a genealogy of tariff. Right. And so that's what this is getting us to is, is Tara is going to be Abram. And if you go to Matthew chapter one, he traces us from Abram to Jesus. I mean, so is the reason why this is most important is because it's that seed is Jesus Christ. He's getting him. Okay, so what is this? What does this do for you? What what how? What do you call to do
have to do a faith that God that God knows what he's doing?
Have faith that God knows what he's doing? That's a good idea. I think that's a great application. Yeah. Have faith that God does know what he's doing good. I think as I think through this, I would probably say something along the same lines, but not just have faith that God is doing what he's doing, but be patient with what God is doing, and we can rejoice. I think also because are we still waiting for that seed? No. Right. The the promise has been accomplished. So can we rejoice? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Can we pray about that now? Yeah. Oh, you want to do that? No, I would underline verse 27. Now this is a genealogy of Tara. Yeah. Okay. Well, let's go ahead and pray. Father, we thank you so much for this day. What a blessing it is. To know that Jesus Christ has come. We pray that we would trust that you are in control, and be patient with your timing. But we would also rejoice that you have brought us our savior in Jesus's name, Amen. Amen. Lord bless you today. may walk in the joy and peace of Jesus Christ and we'll see you tomorrow by impressive been one of this one. Yep.
Okay,
