1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity,
And in whose spirit there is no deceit.
3 When I kept silent, my bones grew old
Through my groaning all the day long.
4 For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me;
My vitality was turned into the drought of summer.

And my iniquity I have not hidden.
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
And You forgave the iniquity of my sin.

Hey, hey, good morning and welcome to Coffee and Devotions. This is where every day you and I, we get together, we get into God's Word and we grow in our love for the Lord together. And this year, 2021, we will make it through all of the? Wisdom literature. That's right, the wisdom literature. This morning we are at Psalm 32, a beautiful psalm. Why don't we go ahead and have some coffee or tea?
We'll pray and we'll get into God's Word. Let's pray. Father, we thank you so much that you are the God who makes us clean. We thank you that you are a forgiving God, full of grace and mercy. We pray that your spirit would open our eyes and soften our hearts now to hear and believe and see what you would have for us this morning. In Jesus' name, amen.
All right, here we go. Psalm 32. Oh, keep going. Almost there, went too far. Here we go, Psalm 32. Can you see anything? Hold your tea and you can move up just a little bit. Go ahead and put your legs down. And then you can sit right next to me. Here we go, alright. A Psalm of David, a contemplation.
Blessed is he whose transgressions is forbidden. whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit." What do you think that's talking about? Blessed? Like happy or favored is the person who what? Who what?
Obeys the Lord. No, it's not saying obeying the Lord. Transgression is forgiven. Do you know what that means? Transgression is forgiven? Sin? Sin. Yeah, sin. Transgression is saying, like, there's a line, right? And if you cross this line, you've transgressed the rule. Right? So trans means to change, and gress means to go over. And so it's a changing over, going over the line. And so if we go over the line that God said, do not steal, do not murder, do not hate your brother, do not covet.

Have you guys ever sinned before and your conscience was guilty? Do you know what it's like when you get all sad because you know that you've sinned? Yeah, but what can we do when our vitality is turned into the drought of summer? When our strength is sapped away, what can we do?
Go to God. Yeah. I will what? I will confess my transgressions to the Lord. We can confess it to the Lord, right? Yeah, I acknowledged my sin to you. Do we have to hide our sin from God? No. No, does he know our sin? Yes, Daniel. Even if you try, there's no hacking into heaven.
That's true. All right, Nathan, go ahead. Verse six and seven. For the cause of everyone who is godly shall pray to you. a time when you may be found. Surely in a flood of great waters they shall not come near him. You are my hiding place. You shall preserve me from trouble. You shall surround me with songs of good old events. What do you think dad's talking about?
Where's our hiding place? God, where can we go when we have trouble? We can go to prayer. So we can go to God when we're in trouble, right? You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Will God save us? Do you guys remember why Jesus was named Jesus? For he will save his people from their sins.
Yeah. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. I will guide you with my eye. Do not be like a horse or a mule, which have no understanding, which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, else they would not come near you. Hmm. Does God have to lead us? Yeah. Yeah, he does. Right. Does God have to teach us the way of righteousness? That's right, it's Jesus. Good.
Debra, can you read the last two verses? Many sorrows will be to the wicked, but he who trusts the Lord, mercy shall surround him. Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, your righteousness and shout for joy, all you upright heart. Upright in heart, yeah. So it talks about the wicked there, right? Many sorrows will surround the wicked. So do you think that's saying being wicked is a good thing? Nope.
But he who trusts in the Lord, what does it say about the person who trusts in the Lord? Mercy shall surround him. What do you think that's saying? Deliverance? Yeah, God's going to deliver them. Good. So we should what? Yes, Daniel? You should be glad in the Lord. If you believe in God and trust Him, then you will have another life. That's right. If you believe in God and trust in Jesus, you'll have eternal life. That's right. That's what it's saying here. Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous. And how are we righteous? Are we righteous by ourselves? That's right, we're righteous because Jesus died for us and he's righteous, isn't he? That's right.
And shout for joy, all you upright in heart. What do you think we should do? There's a lot that we could take for what we should do. What are some things we should do? Shout for joy. Good. If we trust in Jesus, we can shout for joy. What do you think, Deborah? We can rejoice. We can rejoice. That's right. Do you think we can confess our sins? Do you think we can draw near to God? That's right. What about you? Is there a sin that you need to confess today? Have you been hiding that sin away from the Lord? Has he pressed down heavy upon you? Has he sapped up your strength? And do you need to confess your sin unto the Lord? 1 John 1, verses 8 and 9 tell us that if we confess our sins, Jesus is faithful and righteous to forgive us of all our sins and to cleanse us of all of our unrighteousness.
Why don't we go ahead and pray this morning. Let's confess our sins and let's rejoice in the Lord. Let's go ahead and pray. Father, we thank you so much for Jesus Christ. Lord, we do confess our sins to you. We are not perfect of ourselves. Lord, if there is a specific sin in our lives we need to confess, we bring it to you now. Lord, we bring to you anger and bitterness. We bring to you different ways in which we have torn others down with our words.
We pray that you would forgive us for not loving you with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength. Father, we come to you and we rejoice in the blood of Jesus and the life eternal you have given us. In his name we pray, amen.
