good morning good morning welcome to coffee and devotions Thanksgiving Edition this morning I have a little bit of a different devotion for you I know that we normally work through the Bible verse by verse through chapters and through books but this morning in the United States we celebrate a special day Thanksgiving a day to stop reflect and remember the goodness of the Lord I want to read to you Philippians chap 4 veres 4-7 rejoice in the lord always again I will say rejoice let your gentleness be known to all men the Lord is at hand be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with Thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and Minds through Christ Jesus this morning I hope that you are able to read rejoice in the Lord that you might know that your God who is in heaven hears you when you pray when you have supplications but you don't need to be anxious about anything because he hears us or if we ask of anything in his name according to his will we know that he hears us and so I hope that you'll come to him also with Thanksgiving I hope that today you'll thank him for the many good things that he has given you in your life and so this morning I'm going to close us just by praying just by thanking God let's pray God we thank you for life Lord we thank you that you knit us together in our mother's womb Lord we thank you that your thoughts for us are about us are innumerable Lord we thank you for breath we thank you Lord that you woke us up this morning and you gave us your oxygen Lord we thank you that we woke up this morning and that you let us open our eyes and see Lord we thank you this morning that you have given us many of us family Lord we thank you for the laughter of children we thank you for the joy of grandparents and parents we thank you that you have given so many of us brothers and sisters Lord we thank you for our homes we thank you for roofs and for beds we thank you for our clothing we thank you for shoes and shoelaces for shirts and coats and winter hats and gloves we thank you for food and water we thank you that you've not let us starve Lord we thank you most of all for the blood of your son Jesus Christ father there are many times in which we feel in this life that we are in want but father we know that in you we are rich Lord we can rejoice in the Lord because you've given us our Lord Jesus Christ you've given us an inheritance in heaven Lord we thank you that things may be going wrong even this Thanksgiving but father we pray that we might find a place of joy in you Lord we pray that you would remind us of how good you are Lord there are people who are listening this morning that I have no doubt are lonely missing people they love who have died saddened by people they love who will not talk to them anymore Lord many people who are burdened by the cares of this life and the things that they know that they need but father we pray Lord we pray that you would renew our joy that we would rejoice in the lord always and that our gentleness would be known to all men Lord we come before you this morning thanking you for you are good and that we may weep in this Valley of the shadow of death though it may be a veil of Tears Lord we thank you that the day will come when there will be no more tears no more sorrow no more pain when we will dwell with the lamb in that unending light forever thank you Lord for Hope thank you for Redemption thank you for you in Jesus's name amen well Happy Thanksgiving may you rejoice in the lord always may you be filled with thanks and may your gentleness be known to all people I'll see you next time bye
