Numbers 21:33-35

Well, good morning, good morning, good morning. Welcome to Coffee and Devotions. This is where every weekday morning you and I, we get together. We have a little bit of coffee. You want a coffee? We get the God's word and we grow in our love for the Lord together.
And this year, 2024, Lord willing, we'll make it through the books of Numbers, Deuteronomy and. Oh, that's what. Numbers, Deuteronomy and. Numbers, Deuteronomy and. Hebrews, Hebrews. All right, let's have some coffee. We'll pray and we'll get into God's word. It's way over there. Yep. Yep. Okay. You're ready to pray. You want to pray or do you want me to pray? Okay.
God, we thank you so much that you are an amazing God. Lord, we thank you for this time to spend together in your word, your time to spend together just together. Lord, it's a blessing to have Bubba here. Thank you for Nathan joining for Coffee and Devotions. Lord, we pray that you would please help us as we read your word. Please let us understand it and let it apply to our hearts in Jesus's name. Amen. OK, so we're at Numbers chapter 21, verses 33 through 35. So just a few verses. Numbers 21, 33 through 35. OK, yep. All right. You want to go ahead and read that?
He went up by the way to Bashan. So all the king of Bashan went out against them and all his people to battle at Edirne. Then the Lord said to Moses, Do not fear, for I have delivered him into your hands, all his people. And you shall do to him as you did to Sion, the king of Ammon, who dwelt at Hashbon. So they defeated him, his sons, and all his people, until there was no survivor left of him. Okay, okay, so earlier in the chapter, this was chapter 21, verses 21 through 32, they had defeated King Sihon, the king of the Amorites, and now who comes out to battle against them?
Og. Og. How do you like that for a name? Memorizing her one. Yeah. So what do you think? Right. We're gonna have another baby here pretty soon. Should we name him Og? No, right, but so there's a King Og. He's a king of which nation? Bashan. And what happens? So he tries to stop them. He's going to get rid of them. Right. But what's the Lord say? Yeah, right. So do they need to be afraid of them? No, so go ahead you go you leave out of here You got to tell mom. Hey, what's this one passage about? What would you say?
No, not what we're called to do what is this passage about You're gonna summarize this in your own words Mm-hmm That's basically okay, so the Israelites come in and they defeat all King of Bashan, can you hand that to me? Well, nothing like your phone going off in the middle of coffee and devotions So yeah, so All King of Bashan they defeat right. What do you think the best verses to summarize this?
Oh Verse 34, okay. Then the Lord said to Moses, do not fear him for I have delivered him into your hand with all his people and his land and you shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites who dwelt at Heshbon. Okay, yeah. Right? There's only a few verses to choose from. So, uh, maybe the last part of 33 and 34, maybe something like that. I don't know. Okay.
Now we get to what you want, right? Now mom says, okay, that's fine. You learned that they defeated on King of Bation, but why does that matter to you? What are you called to do? Huh? Where do you get that from this? Tell me the bridge that gets you there.
Oh, yeah Yeah, it'd be really scary wouldn't if there was a whole army coming out for battle it would be scary Yeah, yeah, I would take a lot of trust in the Lord wouldn't it to say okay I'm not gonna be afraid I'm gonna go into battle. But what confidence do they have that they're actually gonna win?
Yeah. Right. So can we have confidence when God makes promises to us? Yeah, absolutely. Great job, man. That was that was good. Right. Yeah, I think that's something that we're definitely called to do. Right. If God promises us something, we can follow it. I think another calling is something I just like to do. Right. I think this is historically true. I think it's a historical document. I think this was a historical bation. I think there was a historical man named Og and I think they actually beat him.
And I think this is something for us to remember and sing about in the Psalms. Time and time again, they sing about all get king of nation right and the Lord delivering him over into the into their hands I think we can sing of God's victories and we can know that they're historically true So that gives me a lot of confidence to write that not just that God can tell me these things that I have to buy Blindly follow him. He's told me these things. He's proven himself true Okay, we done okay, okay you want to pray you want me to pray okay, okay Please help us to go about our lives today, and know that we trust you, that you will not go against the law, and please help us to be good citizens. Amen. Amen. Good job, man. All right. Well, may the Lord bless you. May you walk in the grace and peace that comes from knowing that your God always keeps his promises. We'll see you next time. Bye.
