Scripture Passage
The Peace Offering
3 ‘When his offering is a sacrifice of a peace offering, if he offers it of the herd, whether male or female, he shall offer it without blemish before the Lord. 2 And he shall lay his hand on the head of his offering, and kill it at the door of the tabernacle of meeting; and Aaron’s sons, the priests, shall sprinkle the blood all around on the altar. 3 Then he shall offer from the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire to the Lord. The fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails, 4 the two kidneys and the fat that is on them by the flanks, and the fatty lobe attached to the liver above the kidneys, he shall remove; 5 and Aaron’s sons shall burn it on the altar upon the burnt sacrifice, which is on the wood that is on the fire, as an offering made by fire, a sweet aroma to the Lord.
6 ‘If his offering as a sacrifice of a peace offering to the Lord is of the flock, whether male or female, he shall offer it without blemish. 7 If he offers a lamb as his offering, then he shall offer it before the Lord. 8 And he shall lay his hand on the head of his offering, and kill it before the tabernacle of meeting; and Aaron’s sons shall sprinkle its blood all around on the altar.
9 ‘Then he shall offer from the sacrifice of the peace offering, as an offering made by fire to the Lord, its fat and the whole fat tail which he shall remove close to the backbone. And the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails, 10 the two kidneys and the fat that is on them by the flanks, and the fatty lobe attached to the liver above the kidneys, he shall remove; 11 and the priest shall burn them on the altar as food, an offering made by fire to the Lord.
12 ‘And if his offering is a goat, then he shall offer it before the Lord. 13 He shall lay his hand on its head and kill it before the tabernacle of meeting; and the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle its blood all around on the altar. 14 Then he shall offer from it his offering, as an offering made by fire to the Lord. The fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails, 15 the two kidneys and the fat that is on them by the flanks, and the fatty lobe attached to the liver above the kidneys, he shall remove; 16 and the priest shall burn them on the altar as food, an offering made by fire for a sweet aroma; all the fat is the Lord’s.
17 ‘This shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations in all your dwellings: you shall eat neither fat nor blood.’ ”
The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), Le 3:1–17.

What Is This Passage About?
The peace or well-being offering may come from the herd or flock, male or female but without blemish. The worshiper lays a hand on the animal, priests apply its blood, and the Lord receives the designated fat as a pleasing aroma, while the remaining meat becomes a covenant meal that remembers God's kingship and peace.

this morning she's got coffee oh look at that yummy all right well why don't we have some coffee we'll be into God's word we pray and we grow in our love for the Lord together and this year 2023 Lord willing we'll make it from Genesis through Leviticus from Genesis through Leviticus oh okay well while we got some coffee we'll pray we'll get together by the way thank you so much for this day we thank you for blessing us with your word and with your Holy Spirit we pray that you would please teach us this morning in Jesus name amen all right so we are at the Book of Leviticus chapter 3. leviticians chapter three here we go when his offering is a sacrifice of a peace offering so what type of offering is this pizza a peace offering a Shalom offering or a well-being offering okay if he offers it of the herd whether male or female he shall offer it without blemish before of the Lord means like it can't be something that's like lame or has like a uh yeah okay you want to take the best and well not not the cheapest one and he shall lay yeah or the rooster we had who didn't have a foot right yeah all right and he shall lay his hand on the head of his offering and kill it at the door of the Tabernacle of meetings okay and Aaron's son's the priest shall sprinkle the blood all around the altar so the priest he puts his hand on its head they kill the animal what do they do with the blood uh best friend okay with milk uh then he shall offer from the sacrifice of the peace offering and offering made by fire to the Lord all right so now what's he doing with the peace offering that's right the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails the two kidneys and the fat that is on them by the flanks and the fatty lobe attach the liver above the kidneys he shall remove D and Aaron's son shall burn it on the altar upon the burnt offering which is on the wood that is on the fire as an offering made by fire a sweet smelling Aroma to the Lord [Music] okay so they take the kidney they take the liver they take uh the fat and what do they do with it they burn it that's right so this is similar to a bird offering yeah um the plants are what no um she's saying the looping said oh okay well we're we're reading about this now okay so why do you think that they would offer the kidney the liver the fat that type of stuff to the Lord by a full bird offering it's the best it's like the best part of the animal in their culture well some people still love the liver some people still love those parts all right let's go ahead and finish reading it's his offering as a sacrifice of a peace offering to the Lord is of the flock whether male or female we shall offer it without blemish if he offers a lamb as his offering then he shall offer it before the Lord and He Shall lay his hand on his head on the head of the of his offering and kill it before the Tabernacle of meeting and Aaron's son shall sprinkle in flood around the altar then he shall offer from the sacrifice of the peace offering as an offering made by fire to the lord it's fat and the whole fat tail which he shall remove close to the backbone so the tail is cut off and what happens yep so and then what what do you do with the tail to the butchering the animal oh cut off the tail no dude you're just talking about the tail and you would burn the tail yes we can't sit in the living room we don't have couches in there right now but we don't have anything in there yep let's go ahead and keep reading uh and the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails the two kidneys and the fat that is on them by the flanks and the fatty lobe attach the liver above the kidneys he shall remove and the tree shall burn them all the on the altar as food and offering made by fire to the Lord and if his offering is a goat he shall offer it before the Lord he shall lay his hand on its head and kill it before the Tabernacle of meeting and the sons from his from it is offering an offering made by fire to the Lord the fat that covers the entrails and the fat that is on the entrails the two kidneys and the fat that is on them by the flanks and the fatty lobe attach the liver above the kidneys he shall remove and the tree shall burn them on the altar as food and offering made by fire for a sweet Aroma all the fat is the Lord's this shall be a Perpetual statute throughout your generations and all your dwellings you shall neither eat fat ignore blood all right so what type of offering was this nope not a bird a peace offering did it sound a lot like a burnt offering yes but with all of it burned up what do you think they did with the rest of meat the people got to eat it this was a covenant meal right normally you you had a peace offering when there were the covenant made or you wanted to praise God or you wanted to pass God to remember his Covenant and the things that he had promised and so a peace offering was a little bit different than a burnt offering or a whole burnt offering it wasn't cold if the whole thing nope not the burnt offering the whole the burnt offering everything is burnt right but the but the peace offering is just the Globes of the liver and the kidney the fatty entrails the fat the tail that type of stuff with birds but the meat was eaten by the priests well here you can't do ducks right it doesn't give you the option for dogs but please keep your feet to yourselves [Music] oh nope it's got to be a good animal right so this is a this is a peace offering but now Lily asked do you think God needs to eat no no it doesn't have a stomach no he didn't have a stomach he doesn't have a body like man does he does not have a digestive system and but did you know that the pagans thought that their gods actually had to eat and their gods needed to be washed and they're and their gods need to have clothes put on them and stuff like that so they hold on so they needed they needed to make temples houses for them and fall for them and they needed to feed them listen I need you to leave God [Music] his body beat the wolf God's body is not the world if someone said that that's not true God Is Bigger Than The World God holds the whole world in his hand but God is not the world is not God's body God doesn't have a body like men he's a spirit and so do you think he needs to eat a steak like you did the other night no he doesn't need all that so why does he need sacrifices yeah this well no this is a blessing right this is how this is a way that people get to remember God's covenant get to remember who God is okay so these things are largely for the people okay Ellie listen Ellie look at him I need you to listen this morning okay this was more for the people to remember that God was the one who gave them a covenant God was their King God was the one who gave them peace like breath in all things and so they could come to him and have peace so it sounds like something oh so well let me ask is there a Temple today yes you're right about that for the living Temple so oh maybe like when we offer up praise you think it's a sacrifice of praise do we remember God's covenant that's right okay let's go ahead and Pray by the way thank you so much for this day Lord It's been a wiggly morning it's been a morning of lots of funniness and talking but Lord we pray thanking you
