Leviticus 25:8–17

Well, good morning, good morning, good morning, welcome to Coffee and Devotions is where every day you and I, we get together, we have a little bit of coffee. We get into God's word and we grow in our love for the Lord together. Is that good milk? All right, I'm going to have some coffee.
And this year, 2023, Lord willing, we'll make it from Genesis through, do you remember which book? Leviticus, that's right. OK, so we're at Leviticus, Chapter 25. You know, the order of the Bible, Genesis, Exodus. Leviticus, OK, so we're right here, OK?
So. Let's go ahead and pray. God, we thank you so much for this day, we thank you for your word. We pray that you would please help us as we read. Please help us to understand it. Please teach us, Lord, in Jesus's name. Amen. All right, you ready? Oh, tired, tired.
And you shall count. Nope. seven Sabbaths of years for yourselves, seven times seven years. And the time of the seven Sabbaths of years shall be to you 49 years. Then you shall cause the trumpet of the Jubilee to sound on the 10th day of the seventh month. On the day of atonement, you shall make the trumpet to sound throughout And you shall consecrate the 50th.
Year. And proclaim. Liberty, liberty throughout all. You all. Inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you. Jubilee means like a celebration. Yeah. All right. So it's going to be. Well, it's better than a birthday party. It shall be a jubilee for you and each of you shall return to his possession. Each of you return to his family. That's right. That 50th year shall be a jubilee to you. The 50th year shall be a jubilee to you. Nope. First word. In. Neither. Not thou, but so. Nor. Reap. own a cord, nor gather the grapes of your untended vine.
Can you read here? For it is the Jubilee. you shall eat its produce from the field. In this year of Jubilee, each of you shall return to his possession, and if you sell anything to your neighbor or buy from your neighbor's hand, you shall not oppress one another. According to the number of years after the Jubilee, you shall buy from your neighbor. And according to the number of years of crops, he shall sell to you. According to the multitude of years, you shall increase its price. And according to the fewer number of years, you shall diminish its price. where he sells to you according to the number of the years of the crop.
Therefore, you shall not oppress one another. But let's see. Here. OK, so so this is every 50 years. There's going to be a trumpet blast. And it's going to be the year of Jubilee. You get to go back to your homelands. And if you sold the land to someone else, guess what they have to do? Give it back. Give it back. And if you're going to rent out your land to somebody else to farm, guess what?
If you got more years before the jubilee, you charge them less. And if there are less years before the jubilee, like there's lots and lots of time. You charge them more. Right. All their business transactions. So you're not supposed to oppress people. But you let them. But you establish the kind of the money exchanges that all the leases, all the money, all the contracts are going to be based on the year of Jubilee. Right. And so I guess what we're going to find out later than on the year of Jubilee, there's like the all sorts of stuff that happens. Slaves are released and debts are canceled.
There's all sorts of things where if you had found yourself in a bad place You got a reset Yep, there's a reset right you get to try you get to try again I So if you were looking forward to the year of Jubilee because that's what God said you were supposed to do and Then guess what your neighbor said I'm not giving you back that land. How would that make you feel? What if they say I don't care about Jubilee and I don't care about God I'm not giving you the land back What if the, what if the authorities won't do anything about it? What if they say, well, you know, it doesn't seem right to me either, but that's just the way it is.
Yeah, but guess what? Did God forget that they were supposed to do this? No, God knew that they were supposed to do it. But guess what? They didn't do it. They didn't do it. Yeah, they didn't keep the Jubilee and God remembered that it's one of the reasons why that they were exiled out of the land Yeah Kind of a big deal to keep God's commandments even his heart, isn't it?
Mm-hmm. Yeah, but is that mean God is mean? Or yeah, he's actually kind He is the most Most loving. He's kinder than daddy. Oh, you better believe it. Are you ready to pray? OK, Lord, we thank you so much that you have declared to us the year of Jubilee, that you have forgiven us of our sins, that you have atoned for our transgressions and that you have set us free, for we were captives unto sin and death. But you have given us life or to pray that you please let us love others as you have commanded us in Jesus's name. Amen. Amen. All right. Yeah.
