Scripture Passage

Do Not Neglect Salvation

2 Therefore we must give [a]the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. 2 For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just [b]reward, 3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, 4 God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts[c] of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?

A — About

What Is This Passage About?

Because Jesus and his ministry surpass angels, believers must pay earnest attention and not drift from his message. The great salvation first spoken by the Lord was confirmed by eyewitnesses and by God's signs, wonders, miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit.

B — Best Verse

A Verse That Summarizes the Passage

Hebrews 2:1

Distilled from the devotional exposition; the speaker did not explicitly name a best verse.

Bryan does not explicitly identify his own best verse. Verse 1 best summarizes the warning that Christ's superior revelation demands earnest attention lest hearers drift away.

C — Called or Christ

C — Called to Do

Believe the confirmed message of salvation, listen to Jesus, obey his commands, and love one another as he teaches. Honor Christ as heaven's King and desire his Word as an infant desires milk.

all right well good morning good morning good morning welcome to coffee and devotions this morning we're at Hebrews chapter 2 verses 1 through five we're going to be talking about Jesus's Ministry versus The Angels do you think you want to try it all right we're going to have some coffee we'll pray and we'll get into God's word hey don't drink all my coffee oh you're dribbling it oh come on no stop please stop please you're being a lush a selfish coffee Lush oh he at all what am I going to do with you we have to love you huh you ready to pray all right Lord thank you so much for this day thank you for time together and thank you for your word Lord we pray that you would please help us if reread your word please let it be a light to our eyes father we pray that it would be a joy to our hearts help us Lord to listen and to obey Jesus in his name we pray amen okay so Hebrews chapter 2 verses one oh I said 1 through five before but it's vers verses 1 through 4 all right it's right up here therefore we must give the more Earnest heed to the things we have heard lest we drift away for if the word spoken through Angels provided proved steadfast and every transgression and obedience rece received a just reward how shall we escape if we neglect so great a Salvation which at first began to be spoken by the Lord and was confirmed To Us by those who heard him God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders with various Miracles and Gifts of the Holy Spirit according to his own will all right so we got three questions what is this what's the F summize I say and see what are we all to do okay so you're saying the whole thing summarizes all of it yep okay well first let's talk about what this is about what do you think this is about it might be a little hard to understand because you jumped in at after last time's video right there's an important word what's the very first word of this chapter can you point to it what is that word therefore when you read therefore you have to ask what is this therefore what came before it it's about Jesus having a better Ministry than the Angels right Jesus has a better service Jesus has a better Ministry Jesus is the one who's got a better name a better power a better Throne everything better than the the Angels therefore since Jesus has such an amazing thing such an amazing position should we listen to him so do you know what Gans 3 and acts 7 says about Moses Getting the law at SI it says that angels ministered to him but that the Angels Were Somehow be going between him and God and telling him the things that he was seeing but here what we see and is that what's better than the Angels at Mount canani yeah Jesus God himself telling the people with his own mouth and did Jesus just tell the people these things what happened afterwards Comm well yeah he gave us his Commandments but notice shall we es Escape if we neglect so great the Salvation which at first began to be spoken of by the Lord who do you think is talking about the Lord there Jesus right so Jesus spoke about these things and then it was confirmed To Us by those who heard him right so the people who heard him they confirmed it to us well how did they confirm well God bore witness with signs wonders and miracles so they knew it was true so if Jesus is better than the angels and Jesus spoke these things and then they were confirmed by the signs wonders and miracles what people do obey believe obey and believe that's right that's right and so that's what this is about obey and believe because Jes Jesus has said it and he's even better than the Angels now what do you think that calls you to do what do you think seek calling what are you called to do or how does this show you Jesus Christ or what about the Covenant of Grace what do you think with any of those I can hear baby Judah crying out there what do you think how does it teach you about Jesus Christ what you're called to do or the Covenant of Grace that he should King all right yeah so Jesus should be king king where Heaven yeah so he is King in heaven do we believe that like like Judah wants bomb's milk but people want God's word yeah we need want his word like a baby wants milk right but should we want to follow Jesus's commands yes should we desire to follow after his teachings yeah should we love one another like Jesus has told us to oh mhm because Jesus has that great of a Ministry is that good you think we're done by well you we got to pray first do you want to pray or do you want me to pray both of us okay go ahead yeah please hope that we have a good day and please hope that we'll have a good day and please please say please come home and say that the king is deserves the glory Jesus Christ in name amen Lord we pray that we would indeed have your holy spirit that we would hear and obey and know that these things have been confirmed and they're real and they're true I pray that your spirit would help us to live it out in our lives in Jesus's name we pray amen well may the Lord who has saved you and has conver confirmed the message of his salvation with signs one and miracles may he assure your hearts that he's coming again someday and will make all things right we'll see you next time bye
