Scripture Passage
The Faith of Moses
23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s command.
24 By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, 25 choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the [a]passing pleasures of sin, 26 esteeming the [b]reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures [c]in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.
27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible. 28 By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, lest he who destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
29 By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so, were drowned.

A — About
What Is This Passage About?
Moses' parents and Moses repeatedly acted by faith: they feared God above the king, chose God's people over Egypt's pleasures, trusted the Passover blood, and crossed the sea at God's command.

A Verse That Summarizes the Passage
Hebrews 11:26

C — Called to Do
Believe in Christ and value him above comfort, status, and passing pleasure. Continue in faith even when following Christ brings reproach or persecution.

well good morning good morning good morning welcome to coffee and devotions this morning we're at Hebrews chap 11: 23-29 we're going to talk about Moses who's Moses you know who Moses is no I his mommy and daddy kept him safe in the basket or hid him from Pharaoh when he was trying to kill all the boys and his mommy put him in a basket in the river he was adopted by the princess the pharaoh's daughter he raised up into a man he killed a person yeah murdered him we went over that in the book of Exodus and then he went out into Midian and he married his wifey and he was a Shepherd there for a long time until he saw God in the burning bush and he sent him as a prophet to bring the people out of Egypt we kill somebody mhm oh my goodness yeah yeah yeah so we're going to talk about Moses who was God used as a prophet to lead his people out of the land of Egypt out of the house of slavery and he was is a prophet who God used to write the first five books of the Bible so let's have some coffee we'll pray and we'll talk about him you ready okay okay oh you don't want to press that that would turn us off oh turn oh that would turn us off yeah all right let's pray God we thank you so much for this day and we thank you for blessing us with your word with your word Lord we pray that you would please work in our hearts that we would know you Lord love you walk in your ways in Jesus's name amen all right here we go Hebrews 11: 23-29 by faith Moses when he was born was hidden three months by his parents because they saw he was a beautiful child and they were not afraid of the King's Command by faith Moses when he became of age refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter choosing rather to suffer Affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt for he looked to the reward by faith he forsook Egypt not fearing the Wrath of the king for he endured as seeing him who is Invisible by faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood lest he who destroyed the first Blood sorry lest he who destroyed the first born should would touch them by faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land whereas the Egyptians attempting to do so were drowned how would they drowned the water came back in on them and they died all right so we got three questions what are three questions a what is this about about B what is the second C no what is the best verse to summarizes and see what are we called to do called to do let's turn this way so I can see you all right what are we called to do so who is this about God what's about Moses Moses and were his mommy and daddy afraid of the King when he said that they should kill all the babies yeah they said kill all the babies and did did his mommy and daddy fear the king or did they fear God uh the king no no they didn't fear the king they had trust in God and so they hid their baby because they had faith in God and then Moses when he grew up what do you think did he like the pleasures that came with being like the the all the riches and food and The Prestige and the good stuff that came from being the King's Daughter or the the sorry the daughter the princess's son or do you think he wanted to be with God's people I yeah he wanted to be with God's people right esteeming the reproach of Christ greater than the treasures in Egypt now isn't that interesting when did Jesus come five six seven years ago well he would come like 1,300 years after Moses but I've been only born for seven yeah you've only been born for seven years that's right but Jesus hadn't been born at all and yet here is talks about Moses and he says he esteemed the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt right he would rather have his faith in Christ in the Messiah than all the riches and all the treasures of Egypt daddy h president that wants to kill babies well we're talking about this right now yeah but there there have been presidents and there still is a President Who is for abortion yeah and we don't we we're not uh okay with that if she do that she have to kill herself because she's well we okay well uh and notice here in verse 27 why did he leave Egypt so why did Moses leave Egypt because he wanted to be one of God well because he had faith in God and why did he take the Passover when they killed the lamb and they they put the blood on the door post and on the on the sides of their doors why why would he do all that because he believed the Lord and why did he go through the Red Sea because he believed in the Lord because he believed in the Lord his mommy and daddy believed in the Lord he believed in the Lord he believed in the Lord he believed in the Lord he believed in the Lord so what do you think this passage is about he believe in the Lord that's right Moses believed in the Lord and so what do you think that calls you to do [Music] the Lord believe in the Lord that's right Believe In [Music] Christ well that says something very different it says check the audio because I've been known to start it with the microphone turned off on accident so I have a note to myself actually grandma wrote that note to me saying make sure you check the microphone check the audio so uh so the point is we are to Believe In Christ but like Moses do you think that means it's always going to be good for us or do you think we might have to be reproached by men like people might look down on you or persecute you or or be mean to you for following Christ yeah people will people will actually sometimes if maybe when you get older someday you can look at the comments on some of these videos and people will say all sorts of mean things about daddy uh they'll say all all sorts of weird and mean things but you know what that's okay they reproached Christ too I'll still have faith okay yeah can you still have faith yeah yeah hey you ready to pray yeah okay let's pray God we thank you so much for giving us faith in Jesus Christ we thank you for teaching us caring for us letting us walk in your ways God we pray that you would please help us Lord that we would Lord that we would esteem the glories of Heaven better than the passing pleasures of this life and that we would endure even the reproach that comes with following Christ please Lord give us strengthen our faith let us love you in Jesus's name amen all right well may God bless you may you walk in the joy and peace that comes into Jesus Christ I'm doing a thumb oh we got to do a thumb [Music] war 1 2 3 4 5 oh oh you beat me all right you want to say goodbye bye
