Scripture Passage

Hold Fast Your Confession

19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High Priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

all righty well good morning good morning good morning welcome to coffee and devotions this morning we're at Hebrews chapter 10 we're going to be looking at verses 19 through 25 19 through 2 let's have some coffee we'll pray and we'll get into God's word this is not coffee today you got a little bit of decaffeinated black tea and I've got some dandelion root tea one of the ladies at church said here you should try this they say it's just as good as coffee so let let should I tast should I believe it maybe probably not it's not as bad as I thought it might be but it's not it's not as good as coffee but it's not bad all right let's pray and we'll get into God's word God we thank you so much for this day we do thank you for your word and we pray that your spirit would please help us to understand please teach us Lord in Jesus's name amen all right let's go ahead and read Dan Dan can you read verse 19 yes right here you want to read that first verse Brethren having oldness to any enter or the Holy by the holiest the by the blood of Jesus all right being able to enter the holy yeah having boldness to enter the holiest by by the blood of Jesus by a new and a living way which he consecrated for us through the veil that is his flesh having a high priest over the house of God let us draw near with a True Heart in full Assurance of Faith having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water let us hold fast the confession of Our Hope without wavering for he who promised is faithful and let us consider one another to stir up love and good works not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as is the manner of some but exhorting one another and so much the more as you see the day approaching okay so we got three questions a what is this about B what's best some and see what's what do we call all right so what's this about so I'm going to switch over here and I'm going to show you what I think this is about so we're going to switch over to logos here and as I'm in logos this is the Tabernacle right so uh this is produced by faith faith life I hope I'm not violating their copyright by doing this I don't think I am uh but this is their infographic here and you're able to see that they have who uh this is like the wall around everything and then you have the sacrifices they would bring in and the altar where they would offer the animals and the Basin where they would do their washing and then here's the first fail right and do you see inside here this is the holy place and here's the holiest place the holy of holies right and so the high priest would come through the veil and he could come through this first Veil and he would light you make sure that the lights were still lit on the on the lampstand and make sure that there was showbread on the table and he would burn the incense in the Holy place and then once a year he could go through this Veil into the inner the holy of holies where the Ark of the Covenant was and there he would make a uh sprinkle on the day of atonement once a year uh and so that would be fun yeah you think that would be fun well guess what the whole point of this part of the book of Hebrews is that Jesus is a better high priest than Aaron and he has a better Tabernacle than this one and guess where that Tabernacle is that's right it's up up and away it's in heaven and so we get to approach God in the Heavenly Tabernacle and remember that curtain that Veil right that's what this is talking about here right did you notice he talked about a veil therefore having boldness to enter the holiest by the blood of Jesus so it's we don't go to the holy place now in heaven be by the blood of bulls and goats we go by the blood of Jesus right this is a better way a new way a living way I mean just don't go once a year we go yeah every time we pray we get to go through that Veil that's right and so did you notice that which he consecrated us he's the one who set us apart holy for this through the veil and what is that Veil the new Veil isn't made of a curtain but it's of Jesus's flesh right we go through Jesus that's how we enter into the presence of God didn't J just tell the veil in her yeah you're right when Jesus died the veil in the old test or in the the temple was ripped in two from top to bottom you're right God himself ripped that veil in half right in verse 21 having a high priest over the house of God who is that high priest over the house of God Up Up in Jesus Jesus that's right it's Jesus who's that high priest so since all that's true verse 22 let us draw near with a True Heart in full Assurance of Faith do we have to go fearful that God's going to strike us down dead for entering into the holy place yes definitely yes definitely no no right we have the blood of Jesus right we've had our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water right so before Aaron could become a priest he had to be washed from head to toe and then he had all the Priestly garments then he had all the Priestly garments put on him and then they took blood and and they put it on his ear and on his thumb and on his toe and he was sprinkled with blood I was like blood I would like you would like robes and getting washed on you on a spa day I don't think it was exactly that but the point was right is that uh now we we have been washed in the blood of Jesus and consecrated right we our consciences have been made clean and so verse 23- 2 let us hold fast to the confession of Our Hope without wavering for he who promised is faithful Jesus said that this is what he was doing and this is what he did and it's not just about me it's about us let us not consider one another in order to stir up love and good works we don't want to forsake one another no we want to meet with each other we want to exhort one another even as we see the day approaching we know that Jesus is going to return and so we're able to encourage each other with these truths meet together right so this is one of the reasons why we worship every week we get together and daddy exhorts people and I encourage them and we encourage and exhort each other remember Jesus remember what he's done remember who he is and who we are because of him so all right you got to walk out of this room in a second and Mom's going to ask Dan what did you what was that about what do you think you would tell her I would tell her it was about yeah get washed getting washed okay I think it's about ENT in into the most holy place because we've been consecrated and sprinkled in the blood of Jesus our high priest we so better priests better sacrifice better entrance better promises better everything better everything right it's a New Covenant a better Covenant so in my Bible for best verse I have 19 and 22 underlined in my Bible uh last seek calling what do you think this calls you to do let do you think Dan what does this call you to do or how does this teach you about Jesus Christ or even about the Covenant I think it tells us that try speaking of the microphone so people I think it tells us that we can uh be uh go into that everyone actually okay yeah so go go to the Heavenly Tabernacle whenever you want and and pray to your father who's in heaven not like once a year yeah you it's better than praying just once a year you get to go in regularly right so yeah I would say definitely go and pray remember Jesus is your high priest but I would also say encourage each other right we need to provoke each other to love in Good Deeds oh provoke each other with teasing yeah yeah no not provoke each other with teasing provoke to love and Good Deeds right we should get together and encourage each other okay you ready to pray well one of us I'm not going toay pray half a prayer if I'm going to pray a prayer I'm going to pray a whole prayer then I'll pray okay then you'll pray go ahead guys please hope that we have a good day and we we uh play often and thank you well thank you that we're playing right now and please help that we you have a good day name amen amen may the Lord bless you may you rest in Jesus may you enjoy time with the Lord I'll see you next time bye bye bye bye bye bye
