Making the Court of the Tabernacle
9 Then he made the court on the south side; the hangings of the court were of fine woven linen, one hundred cubits long. 10 There were twenty pillars for them, with twenty bronze sockets. The hooks of the pillars and their bands were silver. 11 On the north side the hangings were one hundred cubits long, with twenty pillars and their twenty bronze sockets. The hooks of the pillars and their bands were silver. 12 And on the west side there were hangings of fifty cubits, with ten pillars and their ten sockets. The hooks of the pillars and their bands were silver. 13 For the east side the hangings were fifty cubits. 14 The hangings of one side of the gate were fifteen cubits long, with their three pillars and their three sockets, 15 and the same for the other side of the court gate; on this side and that were hangings of fifteen cubits, with their three pillars and their three sockets. 16 All the hangings of the court all around were of fine woven linen. 17 The sockets for the pillars were bronze, the hooks of the pillars and their bands were silver, and the overlay of their capitals was silver; and all the pillars of the court had bands of silver. 18 The screen for the gate of the court was woven of blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and of fine woven linen. The length was twenty cubits, and the height along its width was five cubits, corresponding to the hangings of the court. 19 And there were four pillars with their four sockets of bronze; their hooks were silver, and the overlay of their capitals and their bands was silver. 20 All the pegs of the tabernacle, and of the court all around, were bronze.

hey hey good morning good morning welcome to coffee and devotions this is where every day you and I we get together we have a little bit of coffee we get into God's word and we grow in our love for the Lord together and this year 2023 Lord willing we'll make it from Genesis through Leviticus so glad to be with you this morning why don't we have some coffee we'll pray and we'll get into God's word by the way thank you so much for the joy it is to sit at your feet and to Worship You Lord we pray that your spirit would teach us this morning that we would walk in your ways in Jesus name amen all right so we are at Genesis chapter 38 beginning at verse 9. here we go then he made the court on the South Side the hangings of the Court were a fine woven linen 100 cubits long there were 20 pillars for them with 20 bronze sockets the hooks of the pillars and their bands were silver on the North side the hangings were 100 cubits long with 20 pillars and their 20 bronze sockets the hooks of the pillars and their bands were silver and on the west side there were hangings of 50 cubits with tin pillars and their 10 sockets the hooks of the pillars and their bands were silver for the East Side the hangings were 50 cubits the hangings of one side of the gate were 15 cubits long with their three pillars and their three sockets the same and the same for the other side of the Court gate on this side and that were hangings of 15 cubits with their three pillars and there's three sockets all the hangings of the court all around were a fine woven linen the sockets for the pillars were bronze the hooks of the pillars and their bands were silver and the overlay of their capitals with silver and all the pillars of the Court had bands of silver the screen for the Gate of the Court was woven of blue purple and Scarlet thread and a fine woven linen the length was 20 cubits and the height along its width was five cubits corresponding to the hangings of the court and there were four pillars with their four sockets of bronze their hooks were silver and the overlay of their capitals and their bands was silver all the pigs of the Tabernacle and of all the and the court all around were bronze well we need to ask ourselves a what's this about B what's the best versus summarizes and see what do we call it to do in response to this so hey what's this about well this is about the court of the Tabernacle right we've already gone through this all else making all the inner things in the holy of holies and of the Holy place and now it's working its way out right there's the center of the Tabernacle where we normally think of the Tabernacle but there was a large Courtyard around and now it's the courtyard all the different essentially walls of the courtyard so that's what this is about bizal and oh holy up they're actually making the sockets and the pillars and the woven linen they're tying it all together and they're actually making the courtyard well what's the best first to summarize this well I think it's going to be then verse 9 then he made the court of the south side and you can uh you could underline each time he made something he made something he made something right uh what What's this calling us to though what's the Covenant truth how does this point us to Christ right what what why is this in the Bible is the question well just because God commands something doesn't mean as people always do it God is the one who gave this pattern to Moses and it's the people now who have donated the things for it now it's actually being made hasn't been used yet the priests haven't been consecrated we'll get that to that in Leviticus but for right now this is this moment of obedience that God is given bazal the wisdom to make these things he's he's teaching people how to do this he's overseeing all this work and now the courtyard itself things are starting to come together it's almost ready it's meant to bring us more and more to this is made and this is made and this is made and this is made and we're excited for when God is going to come and worship in the Tabernacle is actually going to start why is this in the Bible I think this is pointing us to the blessing it is for God's people to obey him right this is a place where he's going to dwell with his people he's the Covenant King he's The Sovereign God he's the Redeemer he's the one who loves them he's the one who's going to care for them and be in their midst and it's being made his dwelling place amongst Israel in the center of the camps now the courtyard has been is built but we don't have a tabernacle now we don't have a holy of holies we don't have an ark of the covenant we don't have a table of show bread we don't have any of this why because God is making a living Temple now Living Stones built one upon the other with the Apostles of the foundation and Jesus as the Cornerstone and Jesus our high priest doesn't Minister he doesn't walk through a tabernacle of curtains he doesn't walk through the gates past the broad across the bronze Altar and the lava no he's entered into the holy of holies in heaven and he has sat down there on The Mercy Seat and he ministers for you because we're our obedience is sparse at best Jesus's obedience was perfect in his entire Earthly Ministry and has fulfilled all these promises they were pointing us to Jesus and so we look to him we don't need a temple we don't need a tabernacle anymore for we don't cling to the signs because we know in heaven Our Redeemer our king lives and he has sent a spirit to be in our hearts that we might be in his midst let's pray by the way thank you so much for the work of your indwelling Holy Spirit Lord we pray that we would obey that we would worship you in spirit and truth that we would indeed be the people who would worship the lamb who was slain father please let us love you and follow after you in Jesus name amen may the Lord bless you may you walk in the joy and peace that comes
