Deuteronomy 19:14

Well, good morning, good morning, good morning. Welcome to Coffee and Devotions. This is where every weekday morning, you and I, we have a little bit of coffee. Daniel drinks his milk. This morning, we're at Deuteronomy chapter 19, verse 14. Just one verse, Dan. We're just going to do one verse this morning. Sound good? Let's have some coffee. We'll pray. We'll get into an interesting commandment. OK, you don't need to chug down your milk there. You ready to pray?
Thank you so much for this day. Thank you for time with the Dan Dan Kaya man. Thank you for your word. Lord, I pray that you please help us. Lord, we pray that your spirit will be with us as we read your word, that you would teach us, instruct us in your ways in Jesus's name. Amen. All right, Dan, so you I'm going to let you try to read this first Deuteronomy 19 verse 14.
That's all we're doing today. He shall not remove your neighbor's handmark which the men of old have set in the inheritance which you will inherit. inherit the way that Lord your God is giving you to us prosper. Don't guess it, read it. Good. Yes. Possess. Yeah, there's a lot of S's. Yeah, there's a lot of S's in that, isn't there?
OK, so you shall not remove your neighbor's landmark, which the men of old have set in your inheritance, which you will inherit in the land, which the Lord your God is giving you to possess. So when you're going into the land, they're going to possess, right? They're going to have land. But what is not allowed to happen? What's this about? Right. So we're talking about a what's this about? What are they not allowed to move?
Yeah, right there inheritance is a land right and so not allowed to move the inheritance markers, right? so if there was a land that was given to Daniel Micaiah and You pass that down to your to your children for the neighbor come and move the fence over and kind of encroach on your land No, why not? Because it's your land Yeah, that's what the Lord had given to you.
Right. So if you were an ancient Israelite, that's what this is talking about. They were going to establish land and each family was going to have just enough land to take care of them. Right. So larger tribes would get larger land and smaller tribes would get smaller land and everybody was going to be cared for. So they weren't to start getting greedy and taking the land from each other and stuff. Right. So. They can't let's go. Let me ask. This is a silly. Yeah, this is a silly question. So we did a what is this about? He was the best verse. What do you think is the best verse to summarize? Verse 14? The whole verse. What about C calling?
Are you an ancient Israelite? Nope, you're not an ancient Israelite. Mm hmm. Nope, you've been engrafted into the tree right as a wild branch Sure, I'm gonna start calling you ancient Daniel. Well, no, so you're so So what well this is more than 200 years ago more like 2,000 years ago almost oh Well more than 2,000 one of my time almost three and a half four thousand anyways Even that Daniel though was during the Babylonian captivity and the Persian time But here's my question for you What is your inheritance? Do you know what do you know what an inheritance is I Okay, so someday, when mommy and daddy die, what will happen to all of our stuff? I have no clue.
Yeah, well, you children will get it. Yeah. So anything that we have in the camper, if the camper is still around. Yeah. Yeah. Right. So the point is, right, there's anything that we have when we die will be passed down to you. You will be the inheritors of our estate. We'll probably get all the electric desks. Yeah, we don't know what we don't know what's going to even exist at that time. But the point is, that's inheritance. Right. But you guys also have a different type of inheritance.
What is we were talking this morning during our Bible time together? What is daddy trying to pass down to you guys? God's word. Yeah, God's word. Right. So we pray with you and we try to leave you an inheritance of Jesus. And I think that's what our inheritance is. The promise to them and to their children was that God was going to be their God. He was going to be with them. And he was even going to give them the land. But guess what's kept safe for you in heaven?
We've got a spot. Your inheritance, right? Do you have a spot in Jesus's kingdom? Yeah. Do you believe in Jesus? Yeah. Do you love him? Has he died for your sins? Yeah. Do you believe that he's Lord? Yeah. Yeah. Do you think that God raised him from the dead? Yeah.
So do you have a spot in heaven? Do you have a spot in the new heavens and the new earth when Jesus comes back and judges the living and the dead? And Zion and the heavenly Jerusalem comes down? Well, yeah, that's what that's what God says in the last day that inheritance will be revealed. And it's kept safe for you, right? For those who are Christians, our inheritance is in heaven, kept safe. And we have a living hope. It is right, but someday there's going to be a new heaven, a new earth. We're going to get to dwell with God and he's going to dwell with us forever.
That sounds like a pretty good inheritance, what do you think? Yep. Yeah, we'll be OK. Yeah, I was just talking to someone this morning. I said, oh, no, I never make any mistakes. Don't talk to Olivia about that. But yeah, I never make any mistakes. And the guy I was talking to, he said, Brian, I've never met anybody who didn't make any mistakes. And I said, well, I know of one and I'll meet him someday. Right. I'm excited that part of our inheritance is being with the lamb forever and to be with Jesus forever.
OK, hey, you ready to pray? OK, Lord, thank you so much that you have given us a rich inheritance and it cannot be moved. It can't be stolen. It can't be taken for you. Guard it for us in heaven. Lord, we pray that you would please give us hope and give us endurance. Protect us, Lord, we pray in Jesus's name. Amen. May God bless you. May you love the Lord. May you look forward to the great inheritance he has kept secure for you and will reveal the last day. We'll see you next time. Bye.
