Lord willing, we'll make it from that book of Acts to the Book of Five Lehman and today we're at Second Corinthians chapter 11. Let's have some coffee. We'll pray and we'll get the Lord's word. Father, we pray that as we read your word that you would care for us, that we would understand it. And that Lord, you would also apply it to our lives in Jesus's name. Amen. All right, here we go. We're at Second Corinthians chapter 11. Do you need my arm there? Can you put your legs down? Thank you. Second Corinthians chapter 11. And we're at the first 15 verses. Nathan, could you read verses one through four? Right here Oh, that you would be always a little slow. And it did you do bear with me for I am jealous for you with garbage. Girls. Jealousy. Well, I have blood. The truth you to one husband that I made me present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. So what's Paul worried about here, right. He's, he says that he's given them one husband, right? And who's that one husband, Christ, Christ. And what's he worried about? That so my try to see them like youth. Yeah, might have tried to deceive them, like even what would be the tricky thing that Satan might do? Distractions are different gospels. Yeah. Give them a different Jesus. Teach them about a different spirit. Teach them about someone else other than their true husband. Right? He says I'm worried about that right. And he goes on Alright, I'm going to read this part you guys ready? For I consider that I am not at all inferior to the most imminent apostles. Even though I am untrained in speech, yet. I am not a knowledge. But we have been thoroughly manifested among you in many in all things. So it's Paul. Less than Peter. Is Paul less than John? Is Paul less than Andrew? No, right. Paul was just like all the other apostles but as we've been trained in how in rhetoric how to speak persuasively Yes. No, he hasn't. No, no. And the people are looking at Paul like dude, you know, you're you have contemptible speech. And he says, I wasn't trained like that, but that doesn't mean I'm any less of an apostle. And here we go. See that is gonna continue. Did I commit sin and humbling myself, that you might be exalted? Because I preached the gospel of God to you free of charge. I robbed other churches, taking wages from them to minister to you. And when I was present with you and a need I was a burden to no one for what I lacked the brethren who came from Macedonia supplied and in everything I kept myself from being burdensome to you and so I can't I will keep myself as the truth of Christ as in me. No one shall stop me from this boasting in the regions of a Kea. Why? Because I do not because I do not love you. God knows it. So did he when he went to Corinth? Did he make them pay him money? Nope, he didn't make them pay them. So how was he living who was giving him money to live? He was well yeah, he guys has like, No, I was robbing the churches of Macedonia was he really robbing them? No, but they were giving him money. So he could go in minister. So the churches of Macedonia you just want to know what churches those were. So this was like the church in Philippi. The church in Thessalonica, maybe in a church and Berea, places like that. Did Paul write some letters to some of those churches? Now, you wrote the book of Philippians. And he wrote the book of First and Second Thessalonians. Right. So he wrote down two, and they're the ones who paid for him to be the pastor in Corinth. Well, he goes on and continues. But what I do, I will also continue to do that I may cut off the opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be regarded just as, as we are in the things of which they boast. For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ, and no wonder for Satan himself. transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore, it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works. What do you think he's warning them about their? Oh, um, that seemed to look good, but he thought it's right. I know there are people in the church that could look good, and they aren't. You think there are people in your church there in Corinth? And they look like apostles are talking like apostles, they want to act like apostles. But are they really apostles? Were they really sent by Jesus? Were they really filled with the Holy Spirit? They're wolves in sheep's skin. That's right. We're saying that they're trying to look like the, like the leaders of the church, not just the leaders of the church, not just the bishop, the apostles trying to look like they're sent from God, and they're trying to say, Paul's not really an apostle. What do you think? Do you think Paul is mean to the people in Corinth? Do you think he's mean? No, no. Do you think he's loving? Is he trying to tell him the truth? That's right. He's trying to care. For them. He's trying to love them. Well, what do you think is the is the best verse to summarize this, I think verse 13, maybe 13 and 14 Right? For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming those selves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder for Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. What do you think needs it? Would you underline that or would you like to join something else? Oh, that was a big issue on the morning. What would you underline? I think, you think 13 What would you guys do? What would you underline in your Bible is the best versus summarizes well last, let's talk about application right see calling. What are we called to do in our lives in response to this right so when you guys think this teaches us about Satan? That seemed seem good but it always leads to a guilty conscience. Sin can seem good but leads to a guilty conscience. Okay. What about can Satan do his work through people? Yeah, right. Are these is this Satan himself making himself look like an apostle or is he spreading his lies? spreading his lies? Is the church immune from people trying to mess stuff up? No. Yeah, right, but we have to be careful, right? Is this really the spirit of God? Or is this just that? Yeah. Or is this just a two faced person? That's right. Are they really coming? How do you know somebody is today? How do you know somebody is actually teaching what's right? Because if you just preach and whatever I start from the Bible. That's right. It has to be from the Bible. But what if the person is twisting the Bible Bible Bible? If it's the Bible, but nothing but the Bible, just wasting in and using different perspectives than what the apostles met, or what Moses met. That's right. Yeah. So So are they actually teaching what the words mean? Or they twisting it to mean what they want it to mean? Alright, so we need to look for teachers who are filled with the Spirit of God, and are teaching us the pure word of God. Does that mean sometimes, maybe the teaching will see them a little bit? Boring? Yeah, sometimes it can seem boring, because was that was the Bible. Was this letter written? to Daniel? Nope. No. Who was it written to? Ark? Yeah, the church of Corinth. And so we have to understand what they were going through. And then once we understand what was happening there, then we can say, oh, so how do we understand this in our lives? Okay, so another person could say he's an apostle and say that Paul was actually really did you know that people today say that they're apostles? Do you think that there's any more apostles? No, no, right. Jesus sent out his 12 and then he sent out Paul, do you think that we should have more possible today, Dan, Dan? You think we should have elders? I agree. Right? But this is people today will still try to say this stuff. And they'll come up with crazy things and guess what the things aren't even in the Bible. Right so we have to be careful. We have to follow Christ. He gets ready to pray. Yeah. Okay. Oh, and then you guys can finish your jokes. Okay. Lord, thank you so much for this day. Thank you for the blessing it is to have the Spirit of Jesus Christ Lord and we pray that we would know you hear from you. And that Father, you would protect us from our adversary the devil, or keep us from the evil one. And we pray for the purity of your church. Lord, may your people know your word. Here the teaching of the apostles and the prophets, as the foundation has been laid firm.
