We have a little bit coffee, we get God's word, and we can grow Love the Lord together. And this year 2022 We'll make it from the book of Acts, the book by Lehman. And this morning we are first Corinthians chapter two. Oh, you have some coffee for free. We'll get to work. Father, we thank you so much for your work. We thank you for showing us Jesus Christ and for giving us your spirit. God we pray that we will know where our joy resides today. Please, Father help us. Please no Holy Spirit, teach us. Illuminate our minds. Open our hearts. Let us know we can Jesus's name. First Corinthians chapter two verse two Corinthians chapter two. And I brethren, when I came to, did not come with excellent speech, or wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. I was with you and weakness and fear and in much trembling, and my speech and my preaching are not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, that not the wisdom of this age, nor the rulers of this age, who are coming from nothing, but we speak the wisdom of God in mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages of our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew or had they had known. They would not have crucified the Lord of Glory. But as it is written, I have not seen nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of this thing which God has prepared those who love Him. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit, that the Spirit searches all things. Yes, the deep things are what man knows the things of a man accepts the spirit of the man which is in even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who was from God that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not our words which man's wisdom teaches, but what's the Holy Spirit teaches? comparing spiritual things the spiritual but the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, but they are foolishness to him, nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things Yeah, he himself is rightly judged by no one. For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him. But we at the MIND OF CHRIST. Well, what a fun passage we have for us today. We need to ask ourselves Hey, what is this about? Be best versus summarizes and see, what are we called to do in response to these words, so first a, what is this about? Well, this first part is all saying how he came to the Corinthians. Remember the Corinthians were always fighting about these different schools of philosophy. Who was the better teacher who was a better rhetorician and policy? It's none of those right. It's nice factions. It's none of these groups. It's all about Christ. It came to you with the wisdom of God incarnate, Jesus Christ, Himself, not that wisdom of this world. And so in verse two, he says, For I determined not know anything among you except Jesus Christ crucified. That was a core message he had brought to the people in Corinth. That's the message he had preached to all the nation. And he says he didn't come with to wisdom. By his own understanding, it wasn't by his own mind, it wasn't obviously fashioning it wasn't eloquent. Speaking. No. You came with a different type of power, the power of the Spirit and the demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. See, it wasn't about Paul's eloquence. It wasn't about Paul's persuasiveness is about the Spirit and the power that came from the foolishness of the world. That was the wisdom of God. Jesus Christ and Him crucified. The Jews a stumbling block into the Greeks in essence, this is what saved them. This is what took out a hearthstone and gave them a hard flood is what took their darkened mind and gave them light to determine the priests, nothing else. That's what his singular focus was on. Was Jesus Christ, and it was his blessing. This is the blessing that God had given them that the Holy Spirit had taught them from Genesis to Malika that all of it was pointing to Jesus. It's a Jews had illness. It wouldn't have crucified the Lord of Glory. It wouldn't have put the death Jesus Christ. But they didn't know it because the Spirit had revealed it to them. But he had done so to the apostles entrusted to them the gospel that they might take it to all the nations that they might show that even though the Old Testament saints had the temple and they had the tabernacle, they had all the types and shadows. It's all in the ministry, but the mystery was made known in Jesus Christ. In Jesus Christ, the mystery of the gospel was presented. That's what this whole second part is about. verses six through 16. It's all about this mystery of the Holy Spirit reveals. Now mystery at this time, there's all sorts of mystery religions, things that are done behind closed doors and people aren't supposed to know about and stuff like that. No, we proclaim the mystery to the entire world. This mystery is something that was obscure, small shadowy, hidden types in the Old Testament. But now, as as structures unfolded, more and more and more knowledge is made known about it, until it came to Jesus Christ, and it became absolutely clear and the Spirit who searches out the mind of God knows everything of the triune God's omniscience makes it known to the apostles, is what the foundation of the church is built on is what Ephesians is getting. That is the teaching of the apostles and the prophets note Western history of crisis, crisis cornerstone of the church. This is why Christ is the head of the church because it's all about him. This is what verse nine is getting that when he's talking about Isaiah 64 Four, I have not seen nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things that God has prepared for those who love him. It's the Spirit who teaches spirit that changes our hearts and teaches us the wisdom of God. This is what we can have. You can have the most eloquent preacher in the world. You can read this show off. Where's it at? This shelf over here is full of homiletic books, books on how to preach right and I can learn how to be the most eloquent pastor in the world. But if the Spirit isn't teaching, there's no point it's about the Spirit of God. It's only God. You can circumcise somebody's it's on the Spirit of God. We can take the blinders off someone's eyes. It's only we can teach us wisdom that can only come from because we internet people we don't want to know. Understand it. But it's the foolishness of the cross is the Lord of Glory. Who is the wisdom of God is the Spirit of God who teaches us about and allows us to know Him? So the best verse summarize these things? Well, I have verses two, as well as the first four for advice, underlined in the first section. I really think those are great parts there. And I don't know, in the second part, I think I probably underline verse six and 10 actually don't have anything underlined. So do me a favor in the comments. Let me know. What would you underline and nearby to, to get at the heart of what this second part verses six through 16 in these 10 verses? What would you underline in your Bible? Well, let's see. What are we called to do in response to these things? Do you believe in Jesus Christ? Maybe some of you are even pastors and teachers? Have you determined in your heart to know nothing else other than Jesus Christ? Crucified? Are you looking for Christ? When you come to the scriptures, you seeking them out as you go through the Old Testament, when you pick up the book of Psalms, do you realize that they're all about when you go to the book of Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy when you open up the books of Moses, can you read through the law the Torah? Do you see Christ? If you have a hard time, I'd encourage you to sometimes sometimes pick up my favorite book of the Bible, the Book of Hebrews, and see how the Old Testament all of it the law, the prophets, the writings are all about Christ. Do you have an eye towards Christ, that wisdom of God, do you pray? Do you pray? The Holy Spirit teaches you? Have you ever wondered why? Before and after a sermon? The pastor probably prays it's because we need the Holy Spirit to be teaching us. We need him to impart to us the wisdom of God, where do we find that wisdom in His Word? By His word, without his Spirit can be ineffective. So do we pick up the book and read? And do we pray? That the Holy Spirit teaches us? That's good. Father, we think that you sent us the Lord of Glory and that he reigns in heaven. We thank you that he has testified in both the Old Covenant and Lord, we thank you so much, that Jesus Christ is Lord of Glory, the wisdom of God incarnate. Lord, we pray that you indeed would teach your Holy Spirit that you press upon our hearts and our minds wisdom. We would know you and love him walk before Thank you. Thank you for your Spirit. Jesus. May the Lord Jesus Christ, lead you and guide you out of your gaze and the Holy Spirit. Be your helper and you're comfortable today. And you love your fire. I'll see you tomorrow.
